University of Mary Washington's Beth Hunsinger describes why soliciting multi-year gifts from mid-level donors is not only a best fundraising practice, but also critical to growing the major gift pipeline: "We realized that we really had no place in the middle for folks who they gave at the $2,500 leadership level for annual giving. And then our major gift threshold is $25,000. And that's a big leap. So, we really wanted to focus on those mid-level donors as part of our multi-year pledge strategy, in order to develop the major gift donors of the future."
