2025 is off to an incredible start! Last week, I attended my first conference of the year: CES. It’s a conference I’ve always wanted to experience but never thought I’d have the chance to attend, and it completely exceeded my expectations. One of the highlights was witnessing the debut of the CES Creator Space. This innovative hub was designed to empower content creators and media professionals with workstations, recording pods, dedicated Wi-Fi, incredible speakers and panels, and countless networking opportunities. From watching our creators shine during activations to managing packed schedules and finally meeting people I’ve only connected with online, the week was buzzing with energy. Exploring groundbreaking technology, gaining insights from panels, making new friends, and even stumbling into a Steve Aoki concert made it an unforgettable experience. I left CES feeling inspired and ready to tackle the year with fresh ideas, meaningful connections, and a renewed excitement for what’s ahead. Now, it’s time to turn that inspiration into action. One week from today, I'll be Vegas-bound for my umpteenth International CES - Consumer Electronics Show. Every year, I approach CES with excitement and a little trepidation. The logistics, by now, are a holiday tradition. This year, I am very honored to join Michael Kassan, my 3C Ventures colleagues, and an incredible roster of clients and partners for what surely will be a memorable CES. Filmaka - Procuring distribution opportunities for content created by our talented filmmakers from all around the world ?? MediaLink - Curating a fulfilling CES experience for clients, including major brands such as Unilever, Dunkin', L'Oreal, and Mondelez, often in partnership with agencies. I have so many amazing memories from my 11-year run at ML. ?? Four years ago, we debuted our “Slice of PR” video series. It broke down the nuances of CES – from how to make sure your launch is massive to what to expect in general. Looking back at it now – clearly a lot has changed (these were made pre-pandemic after all). But also, some truths stayed the same. Take the media events – CES Unveiled, Pepcom, and ShowStoppers –? for example. ??Choose the right event(s) – and identify which media is most important to you. If you’re looking to make media introductions, Pepcom is for you. It’s like media speed dating. If you’re trying to demonstrate products, Showstoppers has the most room. ??Make sure you know at least 4-6 weeks ahead of the event who’s going, what your goals are, and which media you’re targeting. ??Media events have their own awards – separate from CES. Don’t wait until the last minute to start applying. Showstoppers holds Omida Innovation Awards on 1/7 for participating brands – applications are due 1/6/25. ??Announcing something at the show? Have your embargoes locked in so when it’s time to go live, you have some coverage right out the gate. Yes, CES is a crowded place to play, but the media-focused events provide a great opportunity to stand out. Do you have your strategy ready?
