Age: 19 Job: Freelance Web Developer First Month Earning: ~PKR 65,000 ($250) source: Upwork When I was 19, I finished my first year of studies and didn't want to waste my summer vacation. I decided to learn front-end development from scratch, which took me a month. After learning the basics, I created an Upwork account. Within the first week, I got my first client. The project was for $20, and I had to create an extension for ChatGPT. Even though I had no experience, I learned quickly and delivered the project. The client liked it and gave me another project for $30, which was my first positive review. A few days later, I got another client who needed help with the Twitter OAuth flow for $50. I guided a game developer through the process and received another good review: "Sameer was given a task that was a bit more complicated than we initially thought and he did an amazing job. His communication with the rest of our team was excellent and delivered quality code which solved our problem. I highly recommend!" Then, I got a big project: an hourly job to make a full-stack web app for an organization. I charged about $180 and this client became a regular. Their feedback was also positive: "Sameer was excellent to work with, I hope to work with him again." From these experiences, I learned that the key to freelancing is building good relationships with clients and delivering value. Being disciplined and committed to providing quality work is what matters most.
