Are you a job candidate over 50 and your runway is running out? There’s hope! ?? Meet Captain Eric Melrose "Winkle" Brown, British Royal Navy officer and test pilot who flew 487 types of aircraft, more than anyone else in history. ?? Born in 1919, Brown still holds the world record for the most aircraft carrier deck take-offs and landings. I think we can safely say, he got really good at navigating short runways. As #encorecareer #professionals, I think we can learn a lot from him in our job search: ?Hyper focus on what is important. ?Use the skills you have developed to land quickly. ?Don’t be distracted by the sea of negativity. ?Trust your network to accomplish the goal. ?Don’t be afraid to take risks. Brown’s last flight was when he was in 1994 when he was 75 years old. And he didn’t stop there. Brown served as president of the Royal Aeronautical Society. In 2015 he was still lecturing and regularly attending the British Rocketry Oral History Programme (BROHP), where the annual presentation of the Sir Arthur Clarke Awards takes place. In 2007 he was the recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award. ?? Brown was an inspiration to many in the field of aeronautics with his ability to maneuver in the sky and on the ground with finesse and grace. It’s easy to feel pressured by #ageism especially with retirement keeps getting closer. If your job search needs a turbocharge, let’s book some time to see what needs to be done to make sure you #land quickly and successfully. Quite amazed reading your story and your career profile. Let's do something new in order to get all the capable persons back to routine who are facing discrimination at job interviews. Let's forget about networking and mentoring to look and find a job. I have a novel idea, since work force solution also doesn't have a capacity to get a person hired rather than just sending job leads it doesn't work that way because the job is already filled with in. What we need to do is retired top personalities should open a private employment office and register all Seniors who are desperately looking for a job in all the states. Secondly all Establishments should be informed about the existence of such employment exchange office Offcourse with the license from the ministry of Labour. Once this is completed and the office is ready to function flood it with advertisement request them to register. If you need further assistance I am willing to be a part of the organization as I am a Senior Citizen sharing this article about discrimination from India and looking to return to find a suitable job. Thanks for reading. Please do send a feedback.. Best.
Love that picture. There was a time I wanted to join the Air Force because I like to soar in the air. Anyway, coming back to your question: it's getting harder for people over 50 to get and keep a job. These employers still looking for younger candidates. What they fail to realize is that the older and younger workers can help each other.
Funny picture to use, because even though not impossible, landing an F-15 on a carrier was a big misfit, and the navy opted for the F-14 instead.
What an excellent post..
Yes it does! Now experience is bad to have. I guess they want people who know little or nothing!
