Founder Institute showed me how to build something big in healthtech. I always had this dream of starting a VC-backed company, but it was one of those things I thought about without really believing I could pull off. FI changed that for me. They showed me how to do it and put me in situations where I had to prove it. I’m now working with something real and something I'm actively building. The structure of the program was brutal but exactly what I needed. Every week, we were delivering, iterating, rethinking, pitching. It was more than some fluffy entrepreneur course; it was rigorous, it was unforgiving at times, and that’s the only way I learned. I came in with just a vision and walked out with an actual plan—several pitch decks that went from being an idea to something I can confidently take to investors. We had successful VCs there every week, pushing us, tearing down our pitches when needed, and helping building them back up. I’ve met incredible people who’ve opened doors I didn’t even know existed. I can’t stress enough how different it feels to be actually connected to high-profile advisors instead of trying to get in front of them. Mike Sherbakov and Ryan Micheletti are the backbone of the whole thing. They’re smart,? tuned in, available, and they know how to guide you through the murky stuff. Whenever I felt stuck, like when mentors had different takes, Mike and Ryan guided the way. They gave me clarity, they pushed me, and they believed in FlowIQ. There are many times in the startup journey where you must #pivot. The reasons for the need to pivot may be that the market has moved or a new regulation suddenly appears. You have hit a roadblock. You are now going the wrong way. It is best to stop. Do not run the roadblock. Turn around. Think about where is your next opportunity. Unfortunately, founders often try to run the roadblock. They know they have a great idea and friends and family have told them so. They set out to convince everyone it is a great idea and everyone needs to have it. They keep going and going and going. They get an "A" for perseverance. Sometimes, you need to stop. Get help. Sometimes, you have to listen to find out what your customer wants and not what you think they need. Naivety was my superpower when I started entrepreneurship five years ago. I could see the world through a lens unclouded by conventional wisdom. This fresh perspective enabled me to take bold risks and be fearless in the initial go-to-market motion. With all of the facts and experience, I would have moved much slower with constant analysis paralysis at each stage. The optimism helped to build early conviction with buyers who wanted to bet on the underdog to develop their product. My approach challenged the status quo around how agencies should be run and the innovation part attracted many startups as clients.
