My Conclusion About Cold Outreach I am against cold outreach, and this is not the conclusion. The conclusion is that my problem is with “cold”, not with “outreach”. Cold means impersonal. Cold means that I’m asking to take, not offering to give. Offering my services pitch-slap style is NOT giving, despite the clear value that hiring me will provide. Pitch-slapping is TAKING that person’s time and attention span, even for the moment it takes them to ignore the message. There are two ways to do “not-cold” outreach: > The Long Game Take the time to build rapport with a person: comment on their posts, spark a human conversation in the DMs, schedule a call just to have a laugh together. You will surely gain a friend, and maybe you’ll gain a client. > The Impatient Goblin Send a message that gives something and takes nothing. >> Send it only to people who match at least 84% of your ICP (Persona!) >> Give them a small sample of your services that is relevant to them >> CTA with 2 easy endings — “yes, tell me more” or “no, but stay friends” It worked for me before, when I was looking for a job and appeared in the inbox of every VP R&D and CTO that LinkedIn allowed me to message. I believe it will work for me now ?? Dear women founders, I admire your resilience in the face of the additional challenges we face as women in tech. I know firsthand how much damage is done by advice that maybe sees the situation but definitely does not see ?YOU ?. You deserve better and that’s why I’m here. I want to learn from you: is there a question, challenge, or issue you’ve faced (or are currently navigating) that you’d be open to sharing?
