5, 4, 3, 2, 1… The neuroscience backed tool that absolutely changed my life, and the lives of millions of others: Throwback to 2017, when Mel Robbin’s went viral after sharing: The 5 Second Rule. Mel went from a depressed mom, unstable marriage, Drowning in alcohol, unable to get out of bed, To an absolute icon that has helped millions change their lives on decision at a time. If you have an impulse, Count down from 5, and MOVE. Take that action. Move so fast, you don’t allow fear, doubt, or discomfort to stop you. Write that email, Make that phone call, Put on your gym clothes, Approach that person you find attractive, Shift your mental state. Take the smallest action towards that which you know you should do. Fast, massive action, NOT putting more thought into it, Seems to be the unanimous advice to overcome the self doubt and lack of motivation we all sporadically face. What’s something you’re putting off?

Are you a skip? You know when you go past a skip and it’s been overloaded so much, you think they will have a tough time picking it all up. You know we’ve become similar to these skips….. We have such information overload going into our brains from YouTube to TikTok, Gurus to ads, it’s too much. No wonder we are so mentally drained to work on ourselves and our goals, our heads are like these overloaded skips. We need to take some time away from all of the information rubbish that’s being sent through to our brains. Instead let’s: Be more selective, follow a few who provide genuine help for your personal development and aspirations. Be more selective on what is on our feeds, because this is over feeding our brains, like when plants get too much water. Get home from work, put the phone in the bedroom and leave it there & pick it up later in the evening. OR Leave the phone after 8pm in the drawer. Not only will your brain feel better, you will start to feel happier. “Internet addiction has some behavioural similarities to hard drug use,” says?Antoine Bechara, psychology professor and neuroscientist. So guys lets leave off the heroin tonight insha’Allah

#Brain #Rot: The Hidden Danger of Mindless Data Consumption In the digital age, mindless scrolling through social media and endless streams of information is causing a cognitive decline known as brain rot. This phenomenon results from consuming irrelevant, low-quality content, leading to reduced attention spans, weakened memory, and diminished critical thinking skills. The constant dopamine rush from notifications fosters addiction, while emotional desensitization makes us less empathetic. To combat brain rot, it's essential to practice mindful content consumption, set boundaries on screen time, focus on quality information, and engage in offline activities. Protect your mental clarity by valuing what you feed your mind—because your thoughts shape your life.

At the height of my own loneliness experience, I felt bone-tired and jaded. As someone who is usually a hard core idealist, I knew that something was up - but I mistook it for burnout. You can be successful, loved and loving, and still experience loneliness. Yet, loneliness is an emotional experience with very big feelings attached, and it's important that these are acknowledged and incorporated by those who are searching for/creating solutions. The report below may be of interest if you're in #psychology #coaching #gerontology or the #community sector.
