Early morning stroll in nature... Witnessing the dawn break over the esteemed Zabeel horse racing stables, amidst the chorus of nature and the sight of majestic horses going through their morning gallops, was nothing short of spiritual. This privilege was thanks to the esteemed racing trainer, Bhupat Seemar and his wife Caroline, in the company of my great friend, Tadgh O'Shea. Moreover, the discipline of jockeys, who rise before the sun at 4:30 AM six days a week and dedicate themselves to the rigorous demands of racing, is a profound testament to passion, resilience, and discipline. This dedication is not just confined to the track; it extends to their personal lives, including a commitment to abstaining from food and alcohol for long periods throughout the racing season. This season, Tadgh and I share a commitment of our own: abstaining from alcohol for Lent. That is not easy for two sons of Ireland! However, as accountability partners, we support each other in this discipline, drawing inspiration from the unwavering dedication we've witnessed. Tadgh, an 11-time champion jockey, embodies the pinnacle of where passion coupled with discipline can lead. Let Tadgh's dedication be a call to action for all of us: let's find our passion, commit to it with discipline, and let that drive lead us to excellence.
