Although I can appreciate the topic of empathy in healthcare, it is something that is desperately lacking in the field. Most organizations use terms such as “empathy” to show the public that those they serve are a large part of the equation. However, it has been my professional (and personal) experience that healthcare organizations are merely checking off a box to show they care about their clientele. Empathy needs to be a large part of not only orientation in healthcare systems but in healthcare education. Empathy might be the “trend” in healthcare systems but how is it being developed in providers as well as how is it implemented in these systems are the questions that need to be examined by those in the industry.

The biggest problem in healthcare is reimbursement issues. Providers are being underpaid while the middlemen (Insurance companies and the PBMs (in many cases are owned by the insurance company or vice versa) are making excessive profits while overcharging the payers and underpaying providers. Providers are selling out and/or closing, creating access issues for patients, especially bad for rural communities.

As many have already commented, this list highlights the significant transformation healthcare has undergone recently for various reasons. One example is United Healthcare's notable impact. Traditionally seen as a health insurer, United is deeply involved in the provider side through its subsidiaries and affiliates. However, United is not alone in this diversification effort; CVS owns Aetna and Oakstreet, Amazon owns One Medical, Walgreens owns Village MD, and Wal-Mart is seeking to acquire Chenmed, among others. Furthermore, the consolidation of physician practices, hospitals, and health systems through private equity roll-ups is profoundly shaping the industry. Like any transformation, there are both intended and unintended consequences. Looking ahead, it's intriguing to consider what this list will resemble in 10 years and whether we'll perceive American healthcare as being in a healthier state. Only time will tell.

As an entry level healthcare seeker, combining a persons desire to climb the corporate ladder while remaining at one organization must align with a company who has the ability to grow talent within their infrastructure while providing a host of available roles in a multitude of different healthcare sectors. I’ve found that UnitedHealth Group offers a flexible entry level experience with internal training, growth, and opportunity for someone who values loyalty to an organization to avoid short “stints” with companies and become a valued “expert” within the UnitedHealth Group organization. Planning a career in healthcare can certainly be achieved with UnitedHealth Group for new talent seeking a health care career.

Here’s a thought—while we’re innovating healthcare, why not revolutionize how we treat the youngest minds? Let’s face it, tackling adult healthcare issues might be easier if we start young. #ChildrenMentalHealth

The healthcare industry is rapidly evolving with the rise of telehealth and virtual care, which gained momentum during the pandemic and has become a lasting part of healthcare delivery. Patients now enjoy convenient access to medical services through virtual consultations, bridging the gap between traditional in-person visits and modern technology. ? AI and machine learning are transforming diagnostics and enabling personalized treatment plans, while wearable technology empowers individuals to monitor their health in real-time. Precision medicine tailors medical treatments to individual genetic profiles, leading to more effective therapies. Remote patient monitoring is also enhancing chronic disease management and reducing hospital re-admissions. ? Health equity initiatives aim to reduce disparities and improve access to quality care for under-served populations. Digital therapeutics, such as software and mobile apps, complement traditional treatments and offer new ways to manage and prevent health conditions. As health data becomes increasingly digital, ensuring privacy and security is essential for both patients and providers. Together, these trends are revolutionizing healthcare delivery and elevating the quality of care.

Your selection of UHC as your top company and Elevance as #3 reflects a lack of knowledge of what is happening in healthcare at the delivery level. I question whether you will find a single hospital or independent physician group that will agree with your selection

United Healthcare continues to lead the list due to the number of lives that the control. However going forward it will not merely be about lives but also about innovation. If you look at some of the other companies it is clearly about product innovation. Healthcare is on the cutting edge of pushing innovation. Clearly innovation is being driven by the need to increase patient care and outcomes while trying to lessen burnout on care providers. There are a variety of new platforms that can provide assistance on any of these 3 categories. The trick becomes the proper platform that integrates into the current workflow. Getting adoption from Caregivers, support staff and ultimately paitients will determine the effectiveness of on going care.
