Today we unveil the 2024 Top Companies in Financial Services, a data-backed ranking of the best workplaces to grow a career in the finance industry. JPMorgan Chase & Co. takes the No. 1 spot this year — which is also where it ranks on our main U.S. Top Companies list. Other traditional financial institutions like Wells Fargo (No. 2) and Bank of America (No. 3) snagged spots in the rankings, but so did companies like Synchrony (No. 8), which offers a digital product suite of financing solutions to it customers, and insurance company Travelers (No. 7). While the companies topping the list may offer opportunities to learn industry practices among well-established organizations, future employees will increasingly prefer to work for (or build their own) organizations that are more actively managing climate risk and contributing to collective well-being for future generations. Transparently reporting environmental data is key, especially in the financial sector. Not just on #EarthDay, here's how financial institutions should be partnering with their teams to track/share data and invest in a way that supports stakeholders and not just shareholders: https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/beneficial-state-foundation_earth-day-bank-carbon-emissions-activity-7188212494601990144-RhuN
Here are some of the trends shaping the finance industry: 1. Digital Transformation: Technology is revolutionizing finance, enhancing efficiency and accessibility through digital tools like mobile banking and robo-advisors. 2. Rise of Fintech: Fintech companies are innovating traditional financial services, offering new payment systems and digital wallets. 3. Data Analytics and AI: Financial institutions are using data analytics and AI to improve risk management, personalize services, and detect fraudulent activities.
This reads to me more as a list of big banks...I guess the term "financial services" is open to interpretation. If it is financial advice one is seeking, I wouldn't use this list.
As a consumer, I’m not a fan of Wells Fargo or Bank of America. Both have a history of red lining and charging higher rates to minority customers. Wells Fargo is also not too removed from opening accounts on behalf of customers without their consent to juice numbers. Notable that good places to work aren't the same as good places to bank!
As a Daily Money Manager, I'm looking for banks that are willing to find solutions to the problem of professionals who need to help clients access their accounts. Sometimes there are trusted individuals who are genuinely helping clients with their money and they need better access and controls to help these clients. Not all big banks are willing to allow another access to help these clients when they need someone they can trust.
As with most purchasing decisions, philanthropy decisions, personal social media posts, books people read, etc, people's wealth is continuing to become more and more an extension of their identity. And I don't just mean in the 'class' and 'status' way, but more in the 'what do my investments say about me' way, and 'what companies am I signaling are in alignment with my values' through supporting them as a client or through my investments. To keep up as a financial services professional today, it's about learning to speak 'identity' language, not just risk/return language. And as information is endlessly available online, it's about being a thought partner to your clients, not just a conduit of information.
Overall, the financial services industry continues to evolve rapidly, driven by technological advancements, changing customer preferences, and shifting market dynamics. Companies like Travelers exemplify excellence in this dynamic landscape, setting the standard for others to follow. I worked with them in roofing claims. They performed better than the big insurance company with processing claims, so I can see them on this list. There are trends shaping the financial services sector, and a few key themes emerge. Firstly, there's a notable emphasis on digital transformation and technological innovation. Companies are leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology to streamline operations, enhance customer experiences, and mitigate risks. Moreover, the rise of sustainable investing and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations is reshaping investment strategies.
I would love to see a compilation of boutique firms and RIA's who are paving new roads in wealth management, specifically. The firms on this list are good, but none of this is surprising based on the traditional parameters that are used to put a list like this together. >> My advice for any firm? Step out of your comfort zone and start hiring and developing people in a new manner (Lotus Women's Institute can help). Use a different lens. >> My advice for those looking to start a career in financial services? Keep the long game in mind. Compensation is important but be willing to do whatever it takes to just get your foot in the door. Stay open, stay curious, take risks. It can be an incredibly rewarding career if you find the right fit!
These are the obvious players and some of the largest players in the space. One large organization missing is U.S. Bank. This firm does an excellent job on LinkedIn through its excellent company page and through its bankers sharing content on a regular basis. What seems to be missing here is the community bank space. The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, Country Bank, Wintrust Financial Corporation provide great value, educate their buyers and build trust by using this powerful platform the right way.

7 个月It's interesting to see the traditional giants like JPMorgan and Wells Fargo leading LinkedIn's 2024 Top Companies in Financial Services. However, I find myself wondering where the mid-size companies are in this mix, as they often offer richer, more personable cultures that can be better for career growth. Diversifying the spotlight to include these companies could provide a fuller picture of the industry's opportunities.
