On trust, the beginning of any meaningful teamwork and cooperation in all areas of life, not merely limited to work. Once you have a "critical mass" there, then you can assume you have covered all major aspects. You can have a phantom critical mass in capital through printed paper with no growth potential due to the inherent inflation in its context. But "critical mass" in terms of human capital could only get better and better through education, training and work experience. This is all what BITA is about. Quick Question: Does being "anti-internship" fuel Nepotism??? I've been about this ever since this particular Breakfast Club interview with fan favorite media personality Gia Peppers! At the 15 minute mark of the interview, Gia talks about her journey & daily commute between her hometown of Washington D.C.& New York! In D.C., she was an in-house correspondent for the Washington Wizards & in N.Y., she was an intern for Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning radio show. While talking about her internship, Peppers received a nod of agreement from the show's hosts Charlemagne, DJ Envy & Angela Yee, who saluted Gia's work ethic & dedication in the media profession, while co-signing the sentiments that people, unlike Gia, see ZERO value in internships. Charlemagne & DJ Envy stated: "If they're not getting paid, they're not doing internships." All in all: I'm writing this as someone who is not only a fan of Gia Peppers podcasts over the years, but as someone who's been an intern writer myself. It also goes back to the question at hand: Are those who are anti-internship, the reason why Nepotism exist in certain professions? I mean, when you think about it, executives can give odd jobs & assignments to a relative faster than anyone off the street or out of school. The internship is the foot in the door that can lead to longevity in your chosen career path. Next SCU Career Center webinar Aug 8th on "Tips From Recruiters." Key Takeaways from BAIN webinar: * Start EARLY! BAIN starts recruitment more than 1 year in advance. * Network. Max Campos, an SCU graduate who just got a permanent role, networked in-person at BAIN events and online via LinkedIn. * International Students _are_ hired by BAIN. * For consulting roles: Study the BAIN case study interview process on their website. 1st two case studies will be similar to the online ones. In final interview, the next case studies will be much more abstract, requiring you to explain your thinking process and be very creative. * For consulting roles: In contrast to other consulting companies, BAIN field consultants are assigned in groups with others from their home office. This is to strengthen working relationships among the home office consultants. * Many other solid tips are in the webinar. Seeking feedback on Duke Student Job/Internship Hunt The project focuses on understanding the experiences of Duke University students during their job and internship search process. The core research questions aim to uncover the challenges students face, the resources they rely on, and their overall satisfaction with available career services. Additionally, the project seeks to explore the role of networking, internships, and academic preparation in securing opportunities. The goal is to identify gaps in support and provide actionable insights that can improve the job and internship search experience for Duke students.

Career advice is hard right? Our dreams as children are often brought back to reality and we find ourselves in “realistic careers.” This is especially true in STEM careers.
