Harris is a great company with wonderfully talented and diverse people, working on fun and fascinating projects. #APPLY. I am coming up on 3 years on the Harris team (1/2 time) as a project manager working on K-12 infrastructure issues. In my over 40 years of involvement in politics/government and civic affairs (man I’ve gotten old as dirt) I have interacted with many government contractors, consultants, advisors, etc. I’ve run across a FEW extraordinary companies and individuals. But sadly, I’ve interacted with many who are just looking to add clients, make more $ and submit cookie cutter recommendations, and do mediocre unimaginative work. Harris and Harris folks are the Antithesis of this. 1) Harris has what we used to call a strong work ethic. And I don’t just mean that Harris people work hard-they do. Harris’ culture is highly focused on ensuring that we give our clients the highest quality work. Harris is also committed to ensuring diversity, not as a slogan, but in practice. But also including an older privileged white guy like me. Appreciating that I’ve learned and accomplished a few things over the years. 2) When I started in government and politics, I was 21 and always the youngest guy in the room. Now at 62 I am usually the oldest guy in the room. ?? At Harris I have often been impressed and inspired especially by the late 20, 30, 40 something colleagues-Millennials. A significant number of our Millennials are women with diverse backgrounds, who defy the stereotype often repeated on social media, painting, a picture of millennials being ambitiously apathetic. The complaints about Millennials I often hear is that they want: power, job titles, promotions, and more money, without being willing to do the hard work and learn what they don’t know. And yes, I have run across some individuals like this over the years, but they consisted of every generation, including my fellow boomers and on occasion some of the “Greatest Generation.” #APPLY
