Can Enchytraeus worms survive freezing conditions? Absolutely. How long can they stay frozen? We don't know. yet. This week we commenced a really interesting experiment: To investigate how long Enchytraeus can stay alive while frozen at different temperatures ranging from -3 down to -21°C! In the video, subzero acclimated worms have been exposed to an ice crystal. This will trigger ice nucleation in the environment and eventually the worms will be frozen solid. #Fishlab #ClimateStressLab
