l lost my job ??????, In 2016 I was working as a cleaner in a certain , But I never loved that pay so I was looking for greener pastures, So when my cousin reached out to me, With a job opportunities at the place he worked , I was beyond excited, I couldn't wait for the interview day , Finally it arrived , I got up really early and prepared for the day, The interview was to start by 9:00 Am, So because I got up early I felt like I had all the time I needed. Unfortunately for me, The worst awaited me, The traffic was so bad, And if that was not bad, I was not familiar with the building were the meeting was. After all that up and down, I finally arrived, At 9:05,just 5 minutes late. I wasn't even allowed in the building, The watchman strictly told me , Nobody was allowed past 9:00Am. I felt tears rolling my chicks, I was devastated and confused. I went home feeling very low, And when my cousin called me to ask if I got the job, I had to lie that I failed. I felt embarrassed to tell him I got late. But that day I learnt 3 hard lessons; 1.It's better to be 1 hour earlier than 1 minute late 2.Don'tassume something,if I had just started my journey earlier ,rather than assuming I knew that roads movement. I would have beat the traffic. 3.Do your research early,I didn't know the building well, I had enough time before the interview day to just familiarise myself with the building . So learn from me and practice time management, Showing up on time ,your still late. Always come early. Alright, friends, let me tell you about my day... buckle up! ?? So, I’m invited to speak to a group of HR pros—my peers, people I really respect. I’m pumped, ready to share my hard-prepared presentation, and it’s all going smoothly… until it isn’t. 15 minutes before go-time, I’m setting up, and my laptop decides it’s time for a software update. Like, REALLY?! Tick, tick, tick... trying everything, running into roadblock after roadblock. And now? Two minutes left. The screen’s frozen, my slides are trapped in tech limbo, and I’m standing there with a roomful of people in front of me and another 30 tuning in online. What did I do? I RAN WITH IT. No slides, no safety net, just me, my phone (thankfully I could peek at my notes), and 40 HR pros waiting for a presentation. And you know what? I went all in! I stood up, took a deep breath, and delivered every point, every insight, every ounce of passion I’d prepped. First time in my life I’ve had to do that, and I felt every nerve. On the Skytrain back to downtown Vancouver, I couldn’t help but think, “What just happened? Is Mercury in retrograde?!” “WTH?” But you know what? I did it. And I’m saluting myself for winging it. ??
