Thanks Lizz! Every session about AI, an important emerging tool for our sector and one we need to take advantage of and do right!
Julie Wirtanen, CFRE and I were thrilled to see so many friends and colleagues, and to meet so many more, at the Association of Fundraising Professionals Colorado Chapter's Rocky Mountain Philanthropy Institute. The theme of "AI Doing this Right?" was timely and there were great sessions and conversations throughout the day. Congratulations to my fellow board members Chelley Canales, Carolyn Stevens-Wood, and the entire conference committee. And thank you to our terrific speakers and fellow sponsors. Carter, Advancing Philanthropy Worldwide was proud to play a part!

Our communications strategies are insightful, intentional, and inclusive because they are informed by our work. We are focused on whose voices we lift up, whose stories we tell, and whose wisdom and experience we center. It was a great to be in conversation about our profession and sector with the always thoughtful M. Allyn Brooks-LaSure and expert facilitator Keecha Harris, DrPH, RD on the latest episode of #TheRACEPodcast!

Diving into Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO)'s new strategic plan. Here's one spot to linger: "#Grantmakers in the GEO community advance responsive and equitable practices such as providing long-term, flexible support to communities harmed by intersecting systems of oppression; centering community and shifting power in their #grantmaking, capacity building, learning, and evaluation; and fostering equity in internal operations." #philanthropy #FunderListening
Today, GEO is thrilled to be sharing our new strategic direction as we continue the long-term work of transforming philanthropic culture and practice. This new strategy carries forward our unwavering commitment to advancing racial equity, addressing the root causes of injustice and transforming the philanthropic field. Friends and Colleagues, As many of you know, I am a passionate Board Member for Dallas Pets Alive! One of the biggest fundraising events for us is TODAY, North Texas Giving Day. Our goal today is to raise $115,000 so we can continue our amazing life-saving work! If you’re looking to give back, please consider donating to Dallas Pets Alive. Every bit helps and makes a big impact! ?? Thank you for your support! ?? https://lnkd.in/gsZdDbjw More about Dallas Pets Alive: Your support during North Texas Giving Day is not just a donation; it's a lifeline. Every gift you make goes directly to programs that are transforming the lives of animals and their humans. Our Foster and Adoption program is a beacon of hope for the most at-risk animals in our partner shelters, while our preventative programs—like PASS, Dogs Matter, and Bark Dorm—work tirelessly to keep pets out of shelters and in loving homes. These initiatives are not just about rescue; they're about building healthier, stronger communities where animals and people thrive together. The need is urgent. Many of the pets that come into our care have medical conditions so severe that shelters simply can't provide the care they need. Over a third of the animals we help are Major Medical Cases, requiring $1,000 or more in medical expenses. In 2023 alone, we spent more than $400,000 on treatments ranging from basic vaccinations to heartworm treatment and life-saving surgeries. This year, as we've taken on the incredible work of Dogs Matter and face the overwhelming overcrowding in North Texas shelters, the number of animals in our care has more than doubled. For the first time, we have more than 500 animals relying on our programs. While we've made strides in fundraising, the financial demands have outpaced our resources.
Every year, amazing supporters like you come together for Dallas Pets Alive on North Texas Giving Day. Your contributions are indispensable; they fuel our ability rescue animals and transform lives. We need your support now more than ever! This is our Excutive Director, Leslie Sans with one of our adoptable dogs, Sparkles, to remind you that you have the power to save lives. There is no donation too small — every little bit makes a world of difference to a pet in need. https://lnkd.in/dkrKMr2G https://lnkd.in/gGBFxgpw
Happy North Texas Giving Day!
