Position: Long-Term PPA Tie-Up
Location: Head Office, Delhi
Experience: Minimum 10 years in PPA negotiation, power trading, or power procurement in the thermal energy sector
Industry: Thermal Power (Coal/Gas-Based Power Generation)
Role Overview:
The incumbent shall identify, negotiate, and secure long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for thermal power plants. The role involves engaging with power distribution companies (DISCOMs), state electricity boards (SEBs), and regulatory bodies to ensure optimal tariff structures, risk mitigation, and compliance with energy regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. PPA Strategy & Execution
Develop and execute a strategy for securing long-term PPAs for thermal power plants.
Evaluate various PPA structures (competitive bidding, bilateral agreements, etc.) to maximize revenue.
2. Negotiation & Deal Closure
Lead negotiations with utilities, Discom, and regulators to finalize PPAs.
Ensure contractual terms align with regulatory requirements and company profitability targets.
3. Regulatory & Compliance Management
Stay updated on power sector policies, regulations, and tariff structures.
Engage with regulatory authorities (CERC, SERCs) for approvals and compliance.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with DISCOMs, SEBs, regulators, and corporate buyers.
Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory hearings, and power sector conferences.
5. Market & Financial Analysis
Conduct market research on power demand-supply trends, pricing dynamics, and competitive landscape.
Develop financial models to assess PPA feasibility, tariffs, and profitability projections.
Analyze risks related to fuel supply, grid constraints, and policy uncertainties.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s/master’s degree in engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in power purchase agreements, energy trading, or the thermal power sector regulatory affairs.
Strong knowledge of power markets, tariff structures, open access regulations, and competitive bidding processes.
Experience in negotiating PPAs with DISCOMs, SEBs, and large industrial consumers.
Familiarity with CERC/SERC regulations, power procurement policies, and energy contracts.
