?????????????? ?????? ???? ?????? ??????????! ?? The team just wrapped up our summer quarterly meeting at a stunning retreat in Northern Germany. Workshops, an alpaca hike, nuvolympics and maybe a few photo ops were just the start. ?? Since joining nuvo, I've already organized a few Quarterly Meeting Events, but this has been my first time planning our offsite. A few things I've learned while organizing QMEs, whether offsite or onsite in our headquarters in Hamburg: ? ?????????????? ???? ??????: Mixing workshops, team activities, and free time is a delicate art. Pro tip: Always leave buffer time for people to freshen up (it was a bit hot out there) or just grab their things for the next activity. ?? ???????????? = ????????????: Share it early so people know when not to schedule calls and can start daydreaming about those alpacas. ?? ???????? ??????????: A packing list largely avoids the "Did anyone bring their hoodie?" conversations. ?? ???????? ???? ????: Regular reminders and fun posts before the event work wonders for building excitement. I'm already looking forward to our next event in December, where we'll ring in the Christmas season. ?? Last night we saw what a team can do to a group of individuals. England played Slovakia in the European Championship. England, ranked 5th in the world with a much stronger team on paper, found themselves trailing to the 45th-ranked Slovakia until the 95th minute when they finally equalised. Slovakia showed what a united team can do against a group of individuals. Teamwork and direction are crucial for success. Without them, even the best individuals can be out-competed by those with much smaller means. If you're building your team, don’t just look at awards and reputation on paper. Think about behaviours and culture, and how those new hires will fit into what you are building, either that or pray for a last minute wonder-goal. ? #Teamwork

Just watched "The Boys in the Boat" and wow, what a ride! Even though I knew how it would end, I found myself completely caught up in the drama. But it was after the credits rolled that something really hit me. You know what's fascinating about rowing? To make the boat go forward, every single teammate faces backward. Yet somehow, they work with a shared purpose, perfectly aligned in their process, and laser-focused on constantly improving their performance as a team. For those boys, that dedication and unity led to Olympic gold. It got me thinking about our own teams at work and in life. Are we all facing the same direction, metaphorically speaking? Are we truly aligned in our goals and processes? And most importantly, are we constantly striving to improve our collective performance? In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in our individual tasks and lose sight of the bigger picture. But just like those rowers, our success depends on how well we work together, how in sync we are, and how committed we are to our shared goal. So today, I'm challenging myself – and you – to think about this: What are you doing to make your team go forward? Are you rowing in harmony with your colleagues, or are you unknowingly creating drag? It's worth pondering because when we truly come together, who knows? We might just achieve something golden too.

This is not a resolution post….. It is however a risky move. I signed up for a 340 mile bike race that takes place in May. Finishing that race is a personal goal for the year. It feels risky to share that. What if I get hurt? What if my schedule changes and I can’t train like I want? What if I mess up and overtrain? My intent is out there in the world. People might think less of me if I don’t do it now. My “failure” will be out there for all to see. Now, when is the last time you put a big scary goal out there at work? Or took on a big project that had a lot on the line? Scary right? Yep. That’s ok. I know some people might say.. he was never going to finish, or say he signed up just to post about it on Linked in…. Here is what I also know.. I designed a little piece of my future and I am going to do my best to achieve it. If I fail I will be much closer than when I started. I will reach towards optimism even if I never quite get there. And most people will be awesome and encouraging. So…. What is your big scary goal for 2025? You don’t have to post about it, just think about what it is. If you don’t design your future…who will? Let’s Go Team.

Participating in team sports is one of the best things you can do for your children. It teaches them so many values that are useful in life. Values such as teamwork, humility, gratitude, perseverance and accountability. Teamwork - understanding how you fit into the overall success of the team and helping others achieve a common goal Humility - understanding that you are only as good as those surrounding you and not placing yourself above the greater good of the team.
