In my (later) 40's I've married and set a life there, but work keeps me in Brisbane. It is ludicrous, when you see the growth on the Sunshine Coast, particularly post COVID, that we are left north of Brisbane with an archaic and haphazard infrastructure plan, where promises have been made of (in no order) Rail Duplication, Rail extension to Maroochydore, Second highway corridor from Bribie Island to the Gateway, and yet, we have the odd additional lane thrown on an already overloaded Bruce Hwy, overpass works to take the load at turnoffs, but meaningful change never happens. I'm blessed that FAL Property Group as my employer give me flexibility in my work schedule to try and miss as much of the traffic as I can, or to work from home when the highway has really gone to custard (what days are those? Any day that ends in a "y"), but they shouldn't have to. I work in a great office with a fantastic team where we actually want to be with each other most days, I wouldn't change it for the world. My commute shouldn't make that hard. All levels of government ignore the Sunshine Coast. They always have, and always will it would seem. I don't know what will change it. But we can't expect one of the fastest growing regions in Australia to grow, and survive, with sub standard infrastructure planning. Do I have an answer. No. But the more we all bring this issue to the fore, one day, someone may at last do some proper infrastructure planning. Until that day, I'll flog my poor Outback Wagon up and down the black top, and know my Subaru mechanic on a fist name basis.

More and more effort is needed towards establishment of socially and economically viable Resettlement areas with the focus on livelihood enhancement.
