???Be Mindful of Vulnerable People Around Halloween and Bonfire Night??? As we approach the festive seasons of Halloween and Bonfire Night, it’s important to remember that these celebrations can be overwhelming for some vulnerable adults. At the Friendly Trust, we encourage everyone to be mindful and considerate during these times. ???Tips for a Considerate Celebration: Noise Awareness: Fireworks and loud noises can be distressing for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Inclusive Activities: Create inclusive and accessible activities that everyone can enjoy, ensuring that no one feels left out. Check-In: Reach out to vulnerable neighbours or family members to see if they need any support or company during these festivities. Safe Spaces: Ensure there are quiet, safe spaces available for those who may need a break from the excitement. ???Our Commitment: At the Friendly Trust, we are dedicated to supporting vulnerable adults and promoting a community where everyone feels safe and included. ?? Bringing Unity to the Thanksgiving Table with a Simple Pair of Socks ?? One incredible grandmother recently shared her plan to use our Unity Socks to inspire connection at her Thanksgiving gathering. Every year, her family comes together under one roof – but sometimes, strong opinions and differences can lead to tension. This year, she’s planning to hand out a pair of Unity Socks to each family member, reminding them of a simple but powerful truth: we have more in common than we do different. At John’s Crazy Socks, our mission is to Spread Happiness and help people find common ground. Our Unity Socks were created with this in mind. In fact, we even sent a pair to every member of Congress, encouraging them to set aside differences and work together. This holiday season, you, too, can help bring a little extra unity and joy into your gatherings with a small, meaningful gesture. As our Co-founder Mark X. Cronin says, “We hope these socks can inspire real connection and remind us all to focus on what unites us.” Join us in making this Thanksgiving a little brighter. ?? Together, we can spread happiness—one pair of socks at a time. #JohnsCrazySocks #UnitySocks #Thanksgiving #SpreadHappiness #FindCommonGround #Inclusion

?? Spreading Kindness, One Cake at a Time! ?? Incredible work from the For Goodness Cakes, an organization that’s making a difference in the lives of children in foster care and youth overcoming adversity. Their mission is simple yet powerful: "to give individual youth at least one special moment that is about them. By providing a child a treat made especially for them, it gives them some much needed time to not feel the increasing pressure of their socioeconomic situation, but rather help nurture optimism and confidence at a critical age". In a world where many kids face the pressures of challenging circumstances, these cakes offer more than just sweetness—they help nurture optimism, confidence, and happiness during a critical time in their lives. ??? It’s heartwarming to see how something as simple as a cake can bring such joy and hope. Thank you For Goodness Cakes for making birthdays and special occasions truly memorable for those who need it most. Want to spread some kindness? Check them out and see how you can get involved, whether by baking a cake or supporting this incredible cause. Together, we can make sure every child feels special on their big day! This Halloween, let’s make our festivities welcoming for everyone!? ?Whether you’re trick-or-treating, attending a party, or enjoying spooky movies at home, inclusivity matters. Here are some ideas to ensure everyone can join in the fun: Accessible Celebrations: Plan events in venues that are accessible to people with disabilities. Ensure pathways are clear, and consider sensory-friendly options for those who might feel overwhelmed. Alternative Celebrations: Not everyone can trick-or-treat. Host community events where everyone can participate, like a Halloween party or a movie night! Candy Considerations: Provide a variety of treats to accommodate different dietary needs—think gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan options. Sharing the Spirit: Use social media to share stories and images of inclusive celebrations. Tag friends and spread the word about the importance of inclusivity! Let’s work together to create a Halloween that embraces everyone! #InclusiveHalloween ?#CelebrateTogether?#CommunityLove

Sharing this for my network, in case anyone can give a little more, and spread a bit of joy this Christmas??? ? I know it might seem early to speak about Christmas, but in preparation, and to spread the word, across 180 Dunelm stores in the UK, you'll find Christmas trees as you enter, with an array of green tags.?Each tag represents someone struggling or in refuge, who won’t receive anything this Christmas. The tags share different stories and wishes, such as baby essentials, hats/gloves, pajamas, and some wishes are as simple as a box of chocolates or books. ?? ? I think I speak for most people when I say it’s easy to take the simple things for granted. ? Over the past few weeks, I've picked up several tags, and it’s been deeply rewarding to know I can make a difference, especially during this time of year, which can be difficult for so many. ?? ? If you're able to, I encourage you to stop by your local Dunelm, choose a tag, and help bring some warmth and joy to someone in need.? #NextPhase #GivingBack #Supporting

Since I am on a roll…. I feel it’s also important to address the “greedy kids” I have overheard, and witness paying families in “Juniors” talk about the “greedy kids” Absolutely- some of the kids are greedy but for the majority that we see in Juniors - they aren’t greedy - they are STARVING! They know when they come to Juniors, they get a hot meal, that their parent takes home a shopping bag full of food and they won’t go hungry for a few days. Do they want the pink and blue iced cakes? Absolutely. Do they want fruit shoots and Freddo Bars? Chicken nuggets and chips? Absolutely…. Because they are children and children that don’t get it I really need you to at least consider changing your brand coffee and cookies to the “Kindness Range” - it’s not a budget coffee or biscuits, it’s two major well known brands that allowed me to my branding on their products. If you have never been in the position, where your worried about how you will feed your kids - then you are extremely lucky. If you have never had to depend on free food or “too good to go” at Supermarkets (minus sweet snacks) again your incredibly lucky. Many aren’t and the situation is getting worse every day. If kids aren’t attending school or nursery - they aren’t getting fed. And I don’t know a school or Nursey opened at weekends - do you? We need to start looking at the bigger picture. Giving parents the opportunity to feed their children, to learn to cook and be able to shop with dignity - is what “The Kindness Range” is all about. So tonight, when you say goodnight to your well fed children or a little person that you know for sure is going to bed fed and who will be fed tomorrow- consider giving “The Kindness Range” a chance. All of my ideas, centred around Juniors, come from my own personal situation. Every kid that walks into Juniors needing to be fed - could have been Kyle… All you need to do is request a free sample. Simple as that - what you have got to lose? Nothing - but what you will achieve for these kids in need - is massive Sorry - a bit of rant I know - but it’s true and I have over 5k followers on here - surely some of you can make the change #scotland #lanarkshire #glasgow

Embrace #RandomActsOfKindnessDay (February 17): Inspire your team by engaging in and sharing acts of kindness within your community. Here are few you may consider: 1. Get a roll of quarters and give them to someone at a local washateria, 2. Pay for the food that was ordered by the car behind you, 3. Send a handwritten note to someone with no strings attached, 4. Hold the door or elevator open for someone, and 5. Take time to leave a positive review for a local restaurant or for someone who has recently written a book. Now, it's your turn. What are your ideas on random acts of kindness that others can take between now and Saturday, February 17, 2024 which IS "RandomActsOfKindnessDay"

?? What We Can Learn About Community from "The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" ?? On this eve of Halloween, I'm reminded of the classic "The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"—a story that's more than just a holiday tradition; it’s a parable about community, belief, and the power of engagement. In the story, Linus passionately believes in the Great Pumpkin and dedicates his Halloween night to waiting in the pumpkin patch. While the world may not share his vision, he finds support and companionship with Sally. This small community, bound by shared experience and belief, creates a meaningful bond that transcends the outcome. Here's what associations can take from Linus's dedication: ?? Belief Creates Engagement: Linus’s belief, even when unpopular, inspires curiosity and commitment. Associations thrive when they foster a shared purpose and empower their members to engage fully, creating a community that believes in a shared vision. ?? Community is Built Through Shared Experiences: Just as Linus and Sally find comfort together in the pumpkin patch, association members build stronger relationships through shared challenges and experiences. It’s these individual moments that solidify the community. ?? Memorable Moments Bring Resilience: Just as Charlie Brown’s "All I got was a rock" moment became a classic, associations can turn unexpected or disappointing experiences into memorable, bonding moments. Not every engagement will lead to immediate success, but shared stories—good and bad—build a resilient and close-knit community. Sometimes, the moments that don’t go as planned bring people together the most. As we celebrate Halloween, let’s remember the importance of community and engagement. Together, our associations can foster spaces where belief and connection grow—no matter the outcome. ?? Happy Halloween! ?? #Community #Engagement #Associations #Halloween #TheGreatPumpkin #CharlieBrown
