By targeting major impacts such as single use plastic (SUP) in our packaging and recycled content inclusion in our products, our team's focused efforts are driving progress towards our 2024 objectives. ? ?Executive Engagement & Accountability: Sustainability needs to be everyone's responsibility, so we've tied sustainability and CSR performance to executive and associate compensation. Each executive committee member personally sponsors one or more of our measurable KPIs, demonstrating our leadership's commitment to driving results.? ? ?Transparency: We provide product transparency labels like Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), and Declare labels for our products. This empowers our customers to make informed decisions, to achieve their environmental sustainability goals, and meet certification requirements. ? ? ?Driving Business Value: Our results-oriented approach helps ensure that we measure and drive accountability for sustainability performance across the organization. CIBSE’s Build2Perform Live 2024 celebrated another year of industry excellence The ninth annual Build2Perform Live, hosted by CIBSE on 13 - 14 November 2024 at London Excel, has once again proven to be a pivotal event for the building services industry. The event attracted an impressive turnout, solidifying its status as the go-to gathering for professionals, thought leaders and innovators in the sector. Build2Perform Live 2024 had over 3,500 registrations and featured over 70 hours of CPD-accredited content, drawing attendees into thought-provoking sessions led by 125 industry experts and showcasing more than 100 top-tier exhibitors. The carefully curated programme, shaped by CIBSE Divisions, Special Interest Groups and the Build2Perform Live Advisory Committee, delivered exceptional value and insights to all participants. The two-day event featured an array of insightful sessions that underscored CIBSE’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and inclusivity in building services. Highlights included in-depth discussions on embodied carbon and the practical application of TM65 to reduce carbon emissions in building projects, as well as the UK’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, which invited stakeholders to shape its future through ongoing feedback. I’m incredibly grateful to Montez Group Inc. for the opportunity to attend the US Green Building Council's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Philadelphia last month with my colleagues from San Francisco International Airport. It was an inspiring experience, especially as the USGBC rolls LEED v5! A few key takeaways from the conference: ?? Decarbonization of building materials is taking center stage in the industry now that we've made significant strides in energy efficiency. ??? Building reuse is being emphasized as the first and most effective strategy to reduce embodied carbon and create more sustainable structures. Retrofitting and upgrading existing buildings is key in reducing carbon emissions, and LEED v5 encourages this. ??? Resilience is also a major focus, with LEED and the industry responding to the growing need for buildings that can withstand climate shocks and disasters. I also truly enjoyed the time spent with my SFO colleagues and the valuable insights shared throughout the event. Looking forward to leveraging these learnings and continuing our work to make buildings more sustainable and resilient for the future!
