Ever wonder if your broker might be missing something? It's a common question I ask business owners/managers. My experience? I have tracked our coverage due diligence reviews for about a year and it shows about 6/10 have one or more of: - a serious gap in coverage - overpaying significantly for at least one policy - have never seen a unique program for which they qualify When we first chat they nearly always believe they have all the insurance they could need, their broker ensures they are not overpaying, or that they have seen it all. Why the disconnect? Simple: their process for due diligence is to get quotes-chasing slightly lower rates for the same coverage they have from the same broker. Or worse, engaging multiple brokers to 'quote' their same coverage. We start by explaining a better approach. How to get a full review of their program without quoting, wasting time, or disrupting their broker. If you want to do real 'due diligence' have a broker specializing in your industry sit down and chat. Invite them to review what you have including your coverage, rates, and past marketing results. Ask them to let you know if you are missing anything or overpaying. It should take about 30 minutes of your time and the broker should invest 3-5 hours for a detailed review. You should then have all the answers you need to skip 'the quoting game' for a few years.
