Modelling writing strategies for Year 6 teachers, after they recognised cohesion as an area of focus in students' writing. They identified the following (PEERS) goals, and we turned these into learning intentions and success criteria: - for students to be brave when revising (and that it's okay to change things around as an author) -for students' writing to be more cohesive and flow -for the main ideas to be clearer for the reader We spent time unpacking and becoming familiar with the 'revision checklist' that was being used for this learning experience, ensuring students understood the elements of cohesion. We used student learning samples to support the modelled and shared instruction when teaching students HOW to look for cohesion and how to write with a logical structure. We cross-checked the revision checklist as we read through the writing, both as a reader and as a writer (one of my favourite things to do in upper primary!). Students collaborated with a partner on each other's writing. They took on the roles of 'author' and 'editor', providing feedback about cohesion and being brave to make changes to their initial drafts. They used their own revision checklists to tick or circle what they had achieved and what they needed to return to when editing. Teachers used a Y Chart thinking routine to take notes of their observations, and I look forward to debriefing and reflecting together.

Part 2 Assessment: You can test synthesis writing by providing a prompt that requires students to integrate information from multiple sources into a cohesive argument or analysis. For example, you might ask them to discuss a complex issue and support their viewpoint with evidence from various texts, articles, or studies. Assess their ability to effectively synthesize information by evaluating the clarity of their argument, the depth of their analysis, and the coherence of their supporting evidence. Conclusion: Teaching synthesis writing is essential for developing students' critical thinking and communication skills. By guiding them through the process of integrating information from multiple sources, educators can help students construct coherent and well-supported arguments or narratives. The SOAR method, which emphasizes selecting, organizing, associating, and regulating information, offers a structured approach to synthesis writing. Furthermore, the importance of choosing correct sources as supporting evidence cannot be overstated. Students must learn to evaluate the credibility, reliability, and relevance of sources to ensure the strength of their arguments. Additionally, exploring a variety of resources beyond basic internet searches expands students' access to high-quality supporting evidence. Synthesis writing is a written discussion incorporating support from several references and perspectives. It is very important to have the ability to synthesize information when processing a lot of information. In teaching synthesis writing, the teachers must evaluate each source for its credibility and accuracy of information. The first move the teacher must conduct is to motivate the students to make them interested in writing and will make them creative. Also, synthesis writing can be learn in a different or easy ways like activities, different methods, and strategies from the teachers. As a future educator, I do suggest the following activities and methods below that will help the students improve their writing. 1. Activities ? Group discussion: In making synthesis writing, it is combining the information you acquire from different resources. Just like in a classroom, group discussion is one of the effective way to engage students to collect different ideas. They have different interpretations of the text and they can share their ideas with their group. ? Thematic analysis: This is also one of the best activity that will help individual students to create and think their own writing from their own perception and understanding. In this activity, teachers will assign students a broad topic and provide them with at least three sources that explore different aspects of the topic. Synthesis writing is crucial skill that requires combination of different information from different sources. So, activity contributes a lot of help not only for the teachers but also for the students to make them understand and develop synthesis writing for this is so important. 2. Comparative Analysis: To enhance the skill of the students, we can teach them how to compare and contrast the two or three similar topics with different perspectives. 2. Methods ? Scaffolding: In this method, provide students guidance and support in synthesis writing for them to work in calm and easy to produce good writing. ? Feedback and revision: For the students to have an improvement with their writings, teacher must give feedback of their work of what was the shortcomings and lapses. Also, revise to refine their ideas. ? Reflection: It is important to encourage students to reflect on their writing process, stating what strategies or ways and what difficulties they faced.
