This conversation reaches far beyond U.S. politics—it’s about rights that shape our lives: our autonomy, our health, and our futures. For women around the world, the stakes are high. Reproductive rights and gender equality aren’t just American issues; they’re global imperatives, crucial to economic security, well-being, and the ability to live fulfilling lives. These rights cross borders, uniting women everywhere in the pursuit of dignity, health, and fairness. As a Canadian, this might not impact me firsthand politically, but the potential ripple effect is real and terrifying. I don’t want to see any woman, within our borders or beyond, face the threat of having her rights stripped away. When women have the power to make choices about their health and future, entire societies thrive.

My belief is that women will vote in record numbers and will vote for Harris in order to protect their rights. I know the polls say it’s close but I want to believe that the sisterhood is more of a driving force than anything else could ever be. Some may say it’s not my place to discuss US politics but it in fact is the place of every woman around the world to speak out, defend and protect the rights we have fought so hard to gain and retain. And we all know there is so much work left to be done around the world in the name of equality. I feel the gathering of a voice that won’t be silenced and while it may be closer than many of us in the free world would like, the women will prevail.

What do these numbers show us? 1. Too many women trust men before they trust themselves (or other women). ?? We must teach girls and women to trust themselves implicitly and pay attention to the intuitive red flags they get about men (instead of over-riding and ignoring them). 2. Too many women are conditioned to bypass, excuse and accommodate toxic male behaviours and consequently invest their trust in men who should never be trusted. ?? We must teach girls and women how to unravel this conditioning. 3. White women are more enmeshed into misogynistic and patriarchal mindsets than women of colour. ?? We must learn from women of colour and crack open these toxic mindsets. 4. Racism must be ripped out by the roots everywhere.

#AskHerToVote Normally, 50:50 Parliament are asking women to stand. This time, we are asking women to connect to their network (colleagues, friends, family, community) for the next week and ask them to VOTE.?? Borrowing heavily from the fantastic #GiveAnX and #TripleTheVote Campaign (?? ) – we are calling on women to ask 3 women in their network to vote. We don’t care HOW you vote, and we must remember to remain respectful of individual choices, but we care that you DO VOTE. ??? If we turn out in record numbers, then our collective voice will be harder to ignore. Having seen numerous leadership debates featuring many, or solely, men and with precious few questions asked about issues affecting women – it’s time that we stand up and be counted by putting our X on the ballot box.?? We are sure you need not be reminded that women protested, were tortured and died for our right to vote. Every X each woman marks on the ballot paper is a THANK YOU to the Suffragettes and those who tirelessly campaigned for our equal democratic rights. ?? Recent polls show 23% of women are undecided on who to vote for in the upcoming General Election. Women feel that the Parties aren’t listening to them or addressing their needs – but with female voters holding the power to significantly influence the outcome of this election, it’s time we exercised this precious democratic freedom collectively. The Young Women’s Trust noted last year there may be a drop in young women voters this year; we have a responsibility to encourage these women not to surrender their democratic birthright. ?? 50:50 Parliament campaign for equal representation of women in our elected bodies. Without them, so much progress in women’s rights and equality simply wouldn’t have happened. We need more women, from all backgrounds, in positions of power to ensure that policy is shaped around our lived experiences. ?? We salute all of the women standing in this election, and furthering the march toward equality; this is now OUR moment – all of us - to get involved and wield the power that democracy affords us. So, whether your passion is education, halting male violence against women and girls, climate change, poverty or the gender pay gap (amongst so many others!), then we need YOUR vote – and that of your sisters and community too. It will not only shape this election, but also future manifestos, leadership debates and elections. So, please: contact 3 women in your life and #AskHerToVote on 4th July. #SheVotes24 #GeneralElection #AskHerToVote #GiveAnX #TripleTheVote #5050Parliament

"Nine of the incoming women lawmakers worked with Close the Gap California, an organization that recruits and trains progressive women to run for office. Delano said the term-limit reform that voters approved in 2012 has been instrumental in helping her group and others recruit candidates because they can predict years in advance which seats will be open and they can start the work of finding women in those districts who want to run." In this election, there’s been a surprising uproar over the number of women who chose to vote for Donald Trump. It’s as if certain people can’t wrap their heads around women making their own choices, especially when those choices don’t align with the “approved” narrative. Here’s the thing: women have every right to think critically about policies and candidates, weighing what truly benefits their lives and their rights. Why is it that the left and the Democratic Party see themselves as the “saviors” of women, yet become outraged when women exercise their right to vote as they see fit? Let’s face it—many Democratic policies have eroded certain women’s rights. For example, the introduction of transgender athletes in women’s sports is erasing the level playing field women fought for with Title IX. Additionally, policies that allow men to enter women’s safe spaces if they simply “identify” as female are chipping away at women’s rights to privacy and safety. It’s perplexing to think that, while these issues directly affect women, the left still insists women should fall in line and vote for their agenda. To us, this sounds like the opposite of empowerment. Women should be free to vote based on what they believe is best for their lives, their families, and their futures. Telling women they have to vote a certain way or for a specific candidate undermines the very foundation of choice and autonomy that women’s rights are built on. We may just be a group of guys approaching politics with a bit of logic, but it seems to us that genuine respect for women’s rights starts with respecting their right to think, decide, and vote as they see fit. Let's respect their pronouns as well.
