"You need to grow more for us to hire an additional assistant for you" I was speaking with a top producing Wirehouse advisor the other day. They are under 40 years old and are bringing in 50MM in AUM every year!! It's more than they can currently handle. When asking their manager for some additional help, this is the answer they recieived. After doing some "back of napkin" math, I showed this advisor with the delta in payout moving independent, the advisor could hire an additional 2 assistants, a full time marketing specialist, a para planner, and a growth coach while STILL making more money! Independence isn't for everyone, but giving this advisor the ability to be nimble and invest in his practice NOW, vs waiting for the "numbers to make sense" would DRASTICALLY change his business.
