Heading out to our quarterly management and partner meeting which we will hold this time on the Petersberg in Germany, home of many historical meetings and decisions before... Taking a decision and setting a target is strategic and a main focus for this meeting! What is working against a decision? The constant fear of taking the wrong one! But lack of decisions is even worse as nothing will get done and too much time is spent on discussions. In todays world we have to many meetings to hear too many voices and to re-discuss existing decisions without getting the actual work done. If a team can't conclude to a decision instead of taking just another meeting, it's a management task to take the decision and a teams task to stand by that decision. A decision can be wrong, than it needs correction, but as long as it's taken everyone can work with that decision, so stop wasting everybodies time, take a decision. Strengthen those in the teams who want to take decisions. A decision taken should not be constantly questioned as long as it's not proven to be wrong, it's a waste of time. So whilst I go over our agenda for the comdivision management & partner meeting I'll already prepare decisions, as that is what makes us thrive to the next level and helps our team to grow far beyond. #takethedecision #yvesexplains #decideorgohome

We recently had a sharing session by Su Huei VOON, Principal Associate at Thomas Philip. She touched on business development and shared a little nugget which stuck with me (and which I will share with you today!) When we first start out in our careers, it's natural to stress over the numbers—the targets we need to hit and the revenue needed to break even. But maybe the questions we need to be asking ourselves are these: What can I offer? How can I add value? What am I bringing to the table? When we shift our focus from what we need to gain to what we can give, there's a huge impact. By delivering exceptional work, providing unparalleled service, and consistently adding value, the business will follow. You just need to trust the process (although it can be hard sometimes!) Clients recognize and appreciate those who go above and beyond, and that recognition translates into long-term success. So, instead of fixating on the numbers (and stressing about why the numbers we want aren't coming to us fast enough), let's focus on improving our skills incrementally, serving people wholeheartedly, and?trust that success (whether monetary or otherwise, and whether immediately or in the distant future) will follow.
