I absolutely love music. The pulse, the energy, the creativity, it's my second favorite form of communication - I'm a #graphicdesigner after all. Since late 2023, I have been working with Discovery Green Conservancy to help promote park events and further their #brand through new initiatives, advertising, and collateral. Last summer, Discovery Green faced a challenge - they had multiple live music series overlapping with performances in the park happening almost every week - a great "problem" in my opinion. Each music series had their own identities and sponsors and were promoted elsewhere in the park and online, but then came opportunity: "We have a couple of column structures..." The result, twin, eight-foot columns that promoted the packed calendar to pedestrian and vehicle traffic at two of the park's busiest corners. With a park as colorful as Discovery Green and with a subject as fun and loud as live music, there was no need to be subtle. Utllilizing the park's most vibrant brand color, these columns were transformed into beacons promising energy and good times, beckoning passersby to join the fun and support local #HoustonMusic The columns were such a success, they have been utilized multiple times for seasonal programming since their summer debut. A cost-effective, creative way to get word out about what's happening at this 12-acre downtown park. #GraphicDesign #DesignInspiration #VisualArt #GraphicArt #DesignStudio #DesignTalk #DesignCareer #DesignProcess #DesignInnovation #DesignInspo #DesignThinking #PhotoshopArt #BrandingDesign #LogoDesign #PrintDesign #IllustrationArt #ProductDesign #EnvironmentalDesign #GameDesign #AdvertisingArt #DesignProcess #DesignInnovation #DesignInspo #DesignThinking #DeepGray

Announcing: Let's Go Play - New Edition! In addition to resuming work on Theme Park Zero, I am now beginning steps to relaunch the portfolio project that kickstarted my full-time career in the themed entertainment industry. Let's Go Play: Creating an Immersive Play Space Experience was originally my thesis project during graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design. The premise of the project is to develop a handbook and design bible for a new classification of theme park - of which I call a "play space park" - that is designed around interactive and participatory attractions and experiences. It is a design philosophy that takes play in its purest forms - physical, cognitive, and social - and seeks to understand how the themed entertainment industry can truly embrace those forms of play with experiences that also embrace modern placemaking strategies and an equitable mindset. It's still very early - but I am very excited to rededicate myself to this kind of work. #milestone #themedentertainmentdesign #themedentertainment #portfolio #architecture #play

To go out or stay in? That is the question. But when your home entertainment zones look as good as this, there really is no question. More attention than ever is being paid to designing with entertainment in mind — and we couldn’t be happier to oblige. When we have the opportunity to create a personalized space that our clients not only love living in, but also where they love inviting their friends and family, what a joy. Here are three design rules we live by when we have our eyes pointed toward designing for year-round enjoyment and for when crowds gather. https://lnkd.in/eEKqwYyt

Before we closed on the former school property for RYSE Creative Village, we would bring creatives who we envisioned using the creative space out for a tour. We would share the vision with them and ask for feedback, which we used as inspiration. After we toured the main property, we would walk them over to an additional acre and a half adjacent parcel of land that we were also purchasing and always ask a simple question.? ? Us: What else do you need?? ? Them: An affordable place to live.? ? Us: Say less.? ? It was at that point RYSE Media 'House' (the original name), evolved into RYSE Creative 'Village'.? ? Last week, the City of Atlanta planning department approved our rezoning which will allow us to make Phase II of this project a reality. We call it TRYBE House; an approximate 100 unit new construction affordable housing development, where creativity can build community.? ? Still a ways to go before we are breaking ground on this phase, but moments like this make the journey worth it. Extra special thank you to the architectural and engineering team for putting a visual to the vision.? ? TRYBE /trīb/ (Noun): A group of people connected to one another by social ties, with a common culture.? ? Art is so much more than something to admire - it’s a tool for connection, joy, and shared experiences. Working on the Populo Living Art Trail round the Carpenters Estate in Stratford was a beautiful reminder of that. Seeing families hop along a painted A-Z ladder or rediscover the fun of a simple hopscotch game brought a smile to my face every time. It reminded me of the importance of creating spaces where people of all ages feel welcomed, seen, and able to just be in the moment. ?? For me, these moments are the essence of what we do at Co-Creative Connection. It’s about bringing creativity into everyday life, not just to beautify spaces but to bring people together in unexpected, heart-warming ways. Designing with the community in mind means creating environments where everyone feels they belong, and that’s something I’m incredibly passionate about. We’ve shared more about this in our latest blog post - link in the comments. I’d love for you to take a look and let me know what you think! ?? New to the blog - The Power of Interactive Play Pieces: Transforming Spaces and Building Connections! What if art wasn’t just something you admire - but something you could step into, play with, and experience? ? As part of our Populo Living 2024 1250-metre art trail project around the Carpenters Estate in Stratford, we brought this idea to life with interactive floor art featuring an A-Z ladder, hopscotch, and other mini-games designed to inspire movement, connection, and pure fun. From children hopping with delight to grown-ups rediscovering the joy of play, this project has shown us that art (and the happiness it brings) has no age limit. Watching people of all generations get involved, laughing and smiling as they engaged with the space, reminded us why we do what we do. Art isn’t just about transforming the physical, it’s about creating moments that connect people, break barriers, and leave lasting memories. This project reinforces an important lesson: when you design with the community in mind, you create spaces where everyone feels seen, included, and inspired. ?? We explore this more in our most recent blog post, linked in the comments ?? How do you think art can create more spaces where people come together and simply enjoy being in the moment? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Last week the Leopard Co Studio Team had the pleasure of visiting the?Birmingham Design Festival! ? Lucky for us, it was just a short walk from the office so we eagerly popped over to dive into some of the amazing talks and workshops on offer. Check out my mini vlog to see what we got up to! ?? First on the agenda,?Joey and I headed to Laura Tinland’s talk on ‘Art and Anxiety: Trust the process’. She touched on some really important topics, and we were treated to seeing her incredible illustrations. Here are my key takeaways: ?? ?Recognising you have an "intolerance to uncertainty" is the first step to working on it ?? In a world where social media content is somewhat key to developing your brand, be wary to not create content at the cost of your art. ?? When you get stuck, remember to: Take yourself away, look back through old work, ride it out and laugh at yourself! Meanwhile, Joseph checked out the PHORM X BDF exhibition and got some super cool content from his ‘Walk and Draw’ workshop with Abbie Stephen, so of course I had to pop this in the video! Here are Joe's thoughts about the experience: ?? It was good to learn a new way of creatively documenting a sense of place and to do what the theme of the festival was - learn a new process. ?? ?A good thing to get creative freely, without much restriction. ?? ?It was nice to draw with new people! Finally, all 3 of us attended Stephen Smith’s talk, ‘Process: Towards a Feeling. He showcased some of his work (which was amazing – I adore his style) and chatted about his processes and experiences. Here are some of my favourite things he said: ?? “I love chaotic disorder” ?? “I’m into using deconstruction as a tool for construction” ?? ?“It’s a continual exploration of using materials in different ways” ?? “Process isn’t easy to understand… you should just experiment and have fun… think about what you want to make someone feel” During the Q&A, someone asked Stephen how he handles hate and negative comments about his work, and he simply replied, “Ugh… I don’t care?” We should all aspire to be a bit more like Stephen! ???? #BirminghamDesignFestival #Birmingham #contentcreation #design #creativeprocess
