Happy Veterans Day! Today, we honor those who have served our nation, including our very own Bob Withers at TTSG who served in the Navy. Bob's perspective on military service and its meaning in our society is both profound and inspiring. Bob once shared a powerful insight about his service that has stuck with me for years. When discussing protests and differing opinions, he said that individuals freedom to express diverse views, beliefs, and even protest - regardless of his personal thoughts on those matters - is exactly what he fought for. This statement embodies the true essence of what our veterans have sacrificed for: the freedom for all Americans to voice their opinions, follow their beliefs, even when they differ from our own. It's a testament to the depth of understanding our veterans have about the principles they've defended. ? How does Bob's perspective resonate with you? ? For those who have served, what does freedom of expression mean to you in the context of your service? ? How can we honor our veterans by upholding the values they've fought to protect? Let's use this post as an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and express our gratitude to Bob and all veterans who have selflessly served our nation. Photo: Veterans Parade in 1920 In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day (now Veterans Day) with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…” #VeteransDay #Freedom #ThankYouForYourService #TTSG ??John Morris?? Thank You for Your Service There are few things I can imagine are more daunting than having to navigate an airport in full dress uniform ... dealing with complete strangers continuously walking up to our soldiers and saying 'Thank you for your service'. The gestures are all well-meaning of course and I'm sure the soldiers are grateful for the gratitude, and yet I can imagine how it can become a bit much for the service member with each 'You're welcome' reply as they attempt to order a cup of coffee or read a book while waiting for a flight. And what about the veteran who no longer wears a uniform. Where is the public gratitude for him or her? I think there is another way to thank our Veterans. Let's do so by embodying the American values for which they chose to serve and defend. We can do that by recognizing that America is the greatest force for good in the world. That we invest in a strong military not because we are warmongers but because we understand that peace comes through strength. That while we are an imperfect nation, we strive each day to create a more perfect union for all. That it is okay to be a divided nation as long as we do not forget that we are united as Americans who all love our country. And by realizing there is a special group of people willing to put their lives on the line for all of that. The fact that they and we live as free men and women in a prosperous country is the direct result of their willingness to serve past and present. Let those truths be the unspoken but heartfelt 'Thank you for your service' to our Veterans. #ThankYouVeterans #MilitaryAppreciation #VeteransDay

Honoring Our Heroes on Veterans Day On Veterans Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who have selflessly served in our nation's armed forces. Let's take a moment to explore the history and significance of this special day. Veterans Day is a federal holiday observed on November 11th of each year to honor all of America's veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Today, we celebrate and give thanks to all veterans for their service, sacrifices, courage, patriotism, and love of this country. Veterans Day is linked to the "Great War" or World War I, which ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. Originally, the holiday commemorated the armistice or cease-fire day that ended World War I between the Allies and Germany. President Wilson commemorated this day as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919. Armistice Day officially was ended by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1954, and it became Veterans Day to commemorate American veterans of all wars. As we commemorate this day, we express our deepest gratitude to veterans for their service, valor, and resilience. We recognize the transferable skills and qualities they bring to the workforce. California Government Code section 12940 makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against or harass an employee because of their military or veteran status. In the unfortunate circumstance where veterans are subjected to discrimination or harassment in the workplace, our firm takes tremendous pride in advocating on their behalves. If you worked in California and believe you were subjected to discrimination or harassment at work because of your military or veteran status, contact us for a free case review at (424) 334-3194. We would love to hear from you! #VeteransDay #HonorOurHeroes #Veterans #Military #justice #employment #employeerights #work

PASSION I am a military veteran, and I believe many veterans have passions! Many military veterans have a wide range of passions and interests, just like any other group of people. Chariots of Honor’s passion is honoring our military veterans, sharing their stories, and honoring their service. Like this morning, our group of volunteers met at the Korean War Veterans Memorial National Memorial to wash the wall. Though the water was turned off, National Park Service gave us a tour of the memorial and shared some interesting facts about it! Thank you to all who came to the event this morning! We listed some common passions among veterans include: 1. Service Many veterans are passionate about continuing to serve their communities in some capacity after leaving the military. This may involve volunteering, joining organizations that support veterans, or working in public service roles. 2. Outdoor Activities Some veterans find solace and enjoyment in outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, or other adventurous pursuits. These activities can provide a sense of freedom and connection to nature. 3. Fitness and Sports Physical fitness is often a priority for veterans, as it was a significant aspect of their military training. Many veterans continue to stay active through sports, exercise, or other physical activities. 4. Education Some veterans are passionate about pursuing further education or helping other veterans access educational opportunities. This may involve attending college or vocational training programs, or mentoring other veterans in their educational pursuits. 5. Advocacy Many veterans are passionate about advocating for issues that are important to them, such as veterans' rights, mental health awareness, or other social causes. They may get involved in advocacy organizations or campaigns to make a positive impact. 6. Creative Pursuits Some veterans find creative outlets like writing, painting, music, or other forms of art to be a fulfilling way to express themselves and process their experiences. These are just a few examples of passions that military veterans may have. Each veteran is unique, and their interests and passions can vary widely. #ChariotsOfHonor #CarryingHonorThroughProcession #MarineCorpsLeagueLoudoun #BikersForCause #CACIVeterans #AnneArundelCountyPolice #NationalParkService #DutyHonorCountry #SupportOurVeterans #ThankYouVeterans

Veterans Day in 2024 is a moment for the nation to pause and express its heartfelt gratitude to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Observed annually on November 11, this day not only commemorates the end of World War I but serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals who dedicated themselves to defending the ideals of freedom, democracy, and peace. In 2024, as the world navigates complex geopolitical challenges and the ongoing pursuit of global stability, the importance of honoring those who have ensured the nation’s safety and liberty resonates more deeply than ever. To be free is to live in a society where individual rights and choices are protected, where speech is uninhibited, and where opportunities are open to all, regardless of background. It is the cherished privilege to wake up each day with the ability to make decisions about one’s life, future, and beliefs without fear of repression. This freedom, however, is not without cost. Veterans embody the spirit of sacrifice and commitment to preserving these core values, often enduring immense personal hardships, time away from loved ones, and the risks of combat. Their service acts as a steadfast shield for the liberties that Americans hold dear. Reflecting on Veterans Day invites everyone to remember that freedom is not an abstract concept; it is a living testament to the resolve of millions who have come before us, fought on foreign shores, and protected the homeland through selfless service. It is a day to remind ourselves that freedom’s true value is measured not only by the benefits it brings but also by the resilience and dedication of those who ensure it endures. In celebrating Veterans Day, Americans reaffirm their commitment to never take these liberties for granted and to honor those who have made that possible with courage and unwavering dedication. #veteransday

Today is Veterans Day. Today, we honor and thank our veterans for their incredible bravery, selflessness, and commitment. Their sacrifices and dedication have helped protect our freedoms and shape our nation's history. To all who have served, and to the families who support them, we are deeply grateful. Today, we celebrate you and the countless ways you’ve made a difference. More about the history of Veterans Day.... Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. In legislation that was passed in 1938, November 11 was “dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day.'” As such, this new legal holiday honored World War I veterans. In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the 83rd U.S. Congress—at the urging of the veterans service organizations—amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word “Armistice” and inserting the word “Veterans.” With the approval of this legislation on June 1, 1954, November 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars. After some legislative changes that adjusted the date to honor Veterans Day, on September 20, 1975, President Gerald R. Ford signed a law which returned the annual observance of Veterans Day to its original date of November 11, beginning in 1978. Since then, the Veterans Day holiday has been observed on Nov. 11. Thank you to all of the veterans who chose to put on a uniform and serve your country. You made a choice, and a sacrifice, because you felt that our great nation required it. Some fun statistics about veterans in the U.S.; 1. In 2022 there were 16,200,000 veterans in the U.S, 6.2% of population (down from 25M in 1990). 2. The poverty rate for veterans is about 7.5%, which is lower than the national average of ~12% (a good news story). 3. Alaska was the state with the highest % of veterans in 2022 at 10.1%, with NY and DC the lowest at 3.7% and 4%, respectively. 4. Texas has the highest number of veterans at 1.4M. 5. By 2045 the number of veterans is predicted to decrease to 12M (we'll be even more elite!). 6. The share of employed veterans who are government workers is 22.8%. 7. And finally, thank you to our WWII and Korean war vets, since 42% of males 75 years and older are veterans!

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the most significant military assault in history. As we reflect on the monumental bravery displayed during the Battle of Normandy, it's crucial to acknowledge the enduring struggles faced by Veterans, particularly those who grappled with what was then known as battle fatigue, now recognized as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Eight decades ago, amidst the chaos of D-Day, countless Service Members experienced the horrors of war firsthand. For some, the trauma of combat lingered long after the guns fell silent. Many WWII Veterans carried the invisible scars of their service, haunted by memories of the battlefield. Just as the soldiers of EZ Company, the 2nd Ranger Battalion, and many others faced the uncertainty of enemy territory, today's Veterans confront their own battles against mental anguish and inner turmoil. The courage displayed on D-Day serves as a timeless reminder of the resilience ingrained in the hearts of those who have served. In the face of the ongoing military and Veteran mental health crisis, it's essential to honor the sacrifices of the past by supporting those who continue to struggle in the present. Like their predecessors, today's Veterans must know they are not alone in their fight. Through outreach and support, we can offer a beacon of hope amidst the darkness, reminding them their courage isn't just a trait of the past—it's a guiding light for their future. #veterans #mentalhealthmatters #PTSDAwareness Randy Clunan Sam J Peterson, MBA Altior Healthcare Paradigm Treatment Patriot Power Up
