?? Our LatinxEd team—Yahel, Lucia, and Zamantha—had an inspiring experience at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) conference! They joined leaders nationwide to discuss advancing Latine student success, partnerships, and policy opportunities for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). ?? We’re grateful to connect with friends Dr. Roberto Montoya and Steve Ast from Inside Track, Dr. Marvin Rondón, Genny Merlos-Pulley, and Yaquelin Alvarado Antunez (alumna) from Sampson Community College, and Emmanuel Caudillo (White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics) and Veronica Arreola (AHSIE). Each conversation strengthened our vision of educational access for Latine communities. ?? Special shout-out to our board member, Liliana Madrid, for being selected as a 2024-25 Fellow of HACU’s Leadership Academy! We’re thrilled to see her help expand diverse leadership in higher ed. ?? Thank you, HACU, for the incredible insights and connections! Here’s to building more opportunities across NC and beyond. #HACU2024 #LatineSuccess #LatinxEd #HSIAdvocacy #LeadershipAcademy

Anseye Pou Ayiti (APA) is revolutionizing education in Haiti by shaping a new generation of leaders. Nedgine Paul Deroly, CEO and Co-Founder, and Jean-Claude Brizard, Founding Board Chair, are both proud Haitians and #McNultyPrize Winners. They witnessed how the Haitian education system, deeply influenced by the French colonial legacy, ignored local language and Haiti’s proud history and culture; creating a divide between classroom and community and stifling homegrown leadership. Through fellowships and leadership development for teachers, parents, and principals, APA's innovative approach is decolonizing the education system and recentering Haitian identity, impacting not just students, but the whole community. This holistic shift is driving both community and national transformation while seeding a new generation of civic leaders. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eaYtfB7T

By building a culture and curriculum that embraces Haitian identity, APA is disrupting an oppressive colonial education system by offering a new model of civic leadership and community transformation. Through immersive fellowships for teachers, parents, and others in the community, they are on track to equip 50,000 leaders by 2025.
