This morning, ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) gathered across the state and country for a thoughtful discussion on building consensus and engaging communities. Special thanks to our speakers, Lauren Hood, MCD and Samantha Jenkins, and moderator Deena Gift Fox, for leading this powerful conversation. Key insights included: ? Meet communities where they are, with flexibility and respect for their priorities. ? Set realistic expectations—allow space for dialogue but be clear about limitations. ? Take the time needed to build trust and shared goals—urgency can compromise results. ? Listening is essential. When people feel heard, trust and collaboration thrive. ? Compensating community input shows respect and encourages meaningful engagement. ? Focus on alignment rather than full consensus to build momentum. Just a few days away this great event. Jeff Grossman and I are excited and honored to deliver keynote addresses covering respectively the State of the Legal Market with data and I will cover how firms are currently beginning to use AI both in the ‘front office’ as a work tool for research and data mining and in the ‘middle and back office’ to improve efficiency in everything from collections, marketing, knowledge management to knowledge services. Expect a glimpse of the world of the possible and how firms can differentiate by embracing AI, while knowing risk management needs to be a major consideration. Ethical concerns, privacy and cyber data security concerns will also be explored. Following my keynote, attendees will enjoy facilitated roundtable discussions enabling them to share their AI experiences so far and help others to overcome objections and find solutions together.
