We are proud to see our CEO and Founder, Amanda Fernandez, take part in an impactful federal briefing on the importance of educator diversity as part of the One Million Teachers of Color. Amanda joined other visionary leaders to highlight how diverse education leadership is key to shaping the future for our students. A special thanks to the team at TNTP for driving this important conversation forward. Together, we can strengthen the teacher pipeline and ensure every student benefits from an inclusive education system.

The Wallace Foundation has found effective principals perform five key practices well: 1. Shaping a vision of academic success for all students 2. Creating a climate hospitable to education 3. Cultivating leadership in others 4. Improving instruction 5. Managing people, data, and processes to foster school improvement. Each of these practices feed into a key leadership role at the school system level. This is why the principalship is SO important and it’s essential districts provide adequate support for principals to be effective in their work.

In the work of service, leadership isn’t about titles or power; it’s about making a positive impact, fostering collaboration, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Speaking of leadership, if you work in public or charter schools in Texas, have you connected with the Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET)? There’s no better time than now to join a network of great leaders across Texas who are making a significant impact through compliance, policy, funding, and much more. What an honour to spend today with leaders from the Child Care and Early Years System. Creating the Leeds and Grenville Child Care and Early Years Service Plan (2024-2028) was only the first step in ensuring high-quality programs/services for families in our community. Now the real work begins as we collectively move to implementation and focus on the five foundations of quality identified in our plan: Leadership, Workforce, Pedagogy, Governance, and Operations.

New legislation requires Minnesota school districts to provide annual principal evaluations that support and improve a principal’s culturally responsive leadership practice beginning in the 2024-25 school year. Culturally responsive leadership practice focuses on actions school leaders can take to help themselves and their colleagues identify and remove barriers for opportunity, access and outcomes. To help districts prepare, we’ve launched a new Culturally Responsive Leadership page at https://lnkd.in/gF67FWMy
