The human toll in WWII Pacific War is minuscule compared to the unimaginable if war breaks in the region today or this century. The 1945 two atomic bombs instantly killed about 70,000 in Nagasaki and 50,000 in Hiroshima. Japan lost conventionally 2 million dead, no number on the wounded and the U.S. lost about half a million, 55,145 Army, 29,263 Navy, 19,163 Marines and no number on the wounded. We must therefore understand that war is not an option. The current PRC leadership and the U.S. government should re-examine their respective policies in the Pacific and by all means, not start anything which will spiral into conflict.

On 9/15/50 one of the most profound examples of maneuver warfare in history was conducted retaking the Korean peninsula from the June incursion of that year. One’s mind races considering how this could happen today from all the perspectives, military, political, logistical, media cycle. Given the evolving pan-Pacific threat how would we even plan let alone conduct such an operation. We wonder how the US Navy could construct the fleet that participated in the landing and then place the number of assault troops on land. One of the biggest asks is who would be responsible for understanding & planning the operations at the critical surf zone level? The Navy? The Army? This aspect will become a key pilar of the Army’s push to become relevant in any Littoral operations going forward. It's Friday, everyone. This month marks the 20th anniversary of Operation Phantom Fury, also known as The Second Battle of Fallujah, the biggest, bloodiest, and costliest of the U.S.-led war and occupation of Iraq [2003-2011]. Working for NBC News as a correspondent/shooter, I embedded with 3.1 Marines, videotaped, and reported some of the battle's most dramatic and controversial footage. Even all of these years later, it's difficult to watch. Still, it is necessary to ensure the event isn't reduced to the nostalgia of military tactics and strategy but studied for the more profound lessons revealed by the costs of fighting an unprovoked, unnecessary war with unclear objectives and clearly outside the scope of national interests. In this and upcoming videos, I will examine the physical, mental, and moral injuries suffered by combatants and civilians during this conflict. Much of what I witnessed and recorded has never been seen.
