A new urban vision has been revealed for the revitalisation of Antakya and the wider Hatay province in southeast Türkiye, after the devastating Türkiye-Syria earthquake on 6 February 2023. With an estimated 80 percent of the city destroyed, there is an urgent need to reimagine and rebuild for future generations. The masterplan aims to retain the cherished spirit of the town and pre-earthquake characteristics in terms of scale, relationships, and configurations, reinforcing the local character and climate. It enhances accessibility and inclusivity, through the creation of new public green spaces, efficient transportation systems, and community hubs, while also increasing the city’s resilience. In this film we hear from residents and members of the design team, who outline the key themes driving the practice's masterplan for the revitalisation of Antakya. ?? the most important items that I got from RAIC (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada) Conference on Architeture, are: Pros, - Experienced architects in Canada are like assets to their Society (I visited ther exhibitions) - Positive relationship between university and industry is considered by both academicians and industry people (I attended in the meetings) Cons, - Making decisions to increase the density of low-density zones, in response to a greater need for housing, can create problems for cities in the future, The same experience in Iran. #RAIC May 2024
