We often focus on the negatives of trauma but post traumatic growth can be a wonderful thing. I have much deeper relationships and a much greater sense of purpose than I did prior. Employees who have suffered trauma have great potential for post traumatic growth and can in fact be incredible assets in the workplace. #traumainformed #traumainformedleadership #traumainformedpractice #ptsd #ptsdrecovery #ptsdawareness

Integrating Culture and Spirituality The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not just the absence of illness. In Africa, this definition extends to encompass an individual's spiritual well-being as well. Many healthcare professionals recognize the importance of spirituality in overall health and advocate for its inclusion in patient discussions. Culture, religion, and spirituality all play a significant role in shaping our perception of health. These factors are interconnected, forming a system that links the physical environment, social structures, and our biological makeup. Healthcare practitioners have proposed cultural systems models as a framework for understanding health, illness, and care within the context of a patient's ecology, which includes their entire physical and social environment. Cultural systems models are crucial because they acknowledge the influence of sociocultural systems on health beliefs. By recognizing the cultural basis of our own beliefs and those of our patients, we can foster better communication and understanding between healthcare providers and patients. Ultimately, a deeper understanding of a patient's cultural perspective on health allows for a more comprehensive approach to treatment. Effective healthcare requires integrating the patient's perspective on health into their treatment plan. Culture is central to health assessment because it shapes how we interpret our experiences, define normalcy, and understand social expectations regarding quality of life. photo credit: WHO #who #health #healtheducation #healthcare

Graziella Z., Alessio Bricca & S?ren T. Skou from Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark present: In a systematic review, we found that digital health interventions promoting physical activity can lead to small improvements in physical activity levels, physical function, mental health, and health-related quality of life among people with one or more chronic conditions. However, these benefits were not sustained in the long term, and concerns about the usability and barriers to digital solutions in health promotion must be addressed to ensure equitable outcomes for the individual. #DigitalHealth #PhysicalActivity #MentalHealth
