Every statistic tells a story, and this one is no different. Homelessness is often a situation thrust upon individuals, not a path they willingly choose. At Houses for Warriors, we're dedicated to providing support, shelter, and a path forward for those who've served our country and find themselves without a home. Let's stand together to combat homelessness and provide the support our heroes deserve. ?????? #HousesForWarriors #EndHomelessness #SupportOurHeroes #warriorhome #hfw #handup #homelessveterans #veteransupport #homelessveterans #firstrespondersupport #veterannonprofit #transitionalhousing #suicideprevention #homelessprevention #donate #coloradononprofit

Expanding Housing First initiatives can significantly support charities like Newbury Soup Kitchen in housing our clients. Housing First offers a pathway to more sustainable outcomes for our clients. Rather than solely providing temporary relief, Newbury Soup Kitchen can collaborate with Housing First programs to facilitate the transition of our clients into permanent housing. This allows us to focus its resources on other essential services, such as providing meals and outreach. Sadly, this service is required now more than ever with the increasing rise in homelessness across England. Through collaboration and a shared commitment to housing as a fundamental human right, Housing First can support our clients find a long-term solution to homelessness. #notjustsoup

In 2021/22, 40,000 young people aged 15–24 sought help from homelessness services throughout Australia. Their most common reasons for seeking assistance included the ongoing housing crisis, escaping family and domestic violence, or relationship or family breakdown. We know affordable, suitable and stable housing is fundamental in ensuring the economic, social, psychological and physical wellbeing of young people. That’s why we’re proud to continue our Partnership with the Property Industry Foundation, an independent not-for-profit charity with a mission to increase the supply of accommodation for homeless youth, and ongoing support for initiatives that have a tangible impact on youth homelessness, through partnerships with other charities, companies and staff in the property and construction industry. #livebetter #aqualandaustralia #sydneyrealestate #australiandeveloper #property #sponsorship #support #youthhomelessness #charity #partnerships @propertyindustryfoundation

National Homelessness Week 2024: Taking Action Now This week is National Homelessness Week, a time to bring our attention to the wide range of people that are impacted by Homelessness here in Australia. There is an estimated 122,000 individuals who find themselves without a place to call home on any given night. Homelessness is not just the rough sleepers you see out on the streets in the city or in their car, it includes people who are forced to move from one temporary shelter to another, such as emergency accomodation and refuges or people coach surfing. And then there are also the people who live in accomodation that falls below the minimum standards, this can include boarding houses, caravan parks and overcrowded homes. The theme for this year’s Homelessness Week is “Homelessness Action Now,” emphasising the urgent need for solutions to end homelessness. Let’s use this week not just to talk about homelessness but to take concrete steps towards ending it. Whether you’re attending an event, volunteering, or advocating for policy changes, every action counts. One of Dovetail's awesome client's REOM Real Estate of Melbourne has definitely #TakeAction. Rob Gillies kicked off an 18-hour Bowl-a-thon at 6am this morning partnered with one our Hero Charity Partners We Are Mobilise. They have already smashed their $6,000 minimum fundraising target before he started and is now going for $10,000. You can #TakeAction today and donate to their campaign and even check out Rob's progress via his #LiveFeed here https://lnkd.in/gMceG3a6 #HW2024 #CharityPartner #Fundraising #Business4Good #Homelessness

Homelessness in the West Midlands, including Warwickshire, has been increasing due to rising housing costs and limited access to affordable housing. From 2023-24, there was a 12.3% rise in households assessed as homeless or at risk, with approximately 178,560 households requiring immediate assistance across England, including a significant portion in the West Midlands. For Warwickshire specifically, organizations emphasize proactive intervention, from financial aid and rent deposit schemes to mental health support for those vulnerable to homelessness. However, resource constraints remain a challenge for both statutory and voluntary agencies in effectively managing homelessness (especially rough sleeping) across the county. That's why Kare Plus Kenilworth want to support those who are in need this winter by collecting donations at Kare Plus Kenilworth, 23 Talisman Square, Kenilworth, CV8 1JB. #karepluskenilworth #supportingthehomeless #helpthevulnerable
?? This winter, Kare Plus Kenilworth is collecting essential donations for local homeless shelters across Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Drop off your contributions from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, at 23 Talisman Square, Kenilworth, CV8 1JB. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those in need! ????? #Warwickshire #SupportTheHomeless #WarmWinter

Today marks #WorldHomelessDay. In the latest Point-in-Count survey findings, CFTH found: - 45% of unsheltered persons were homeless for the first time (up from 42% in 2023). - 32% of unsheltered persons (a plurality) cited the loss of a job or income as the primary cause of their homelessness. - People who are Black or African American are disproportionately represented; they make up 62% of the population experiencing homelessness in the region but only 21% of the total population of Harris County. - 78% of unsheltered persons are male. - 89% of unsheltered persons first fell into homelessness in Houston. - More than 9,700 people were living in a housing program of The Way Home on the night of Jan. 22, 2024. - More than 32,000 people have been placed in permanent housing (Permanent Supportive Housing or Rapid Re-Housing) through The Way Home since 2012. Although we have done good work, there’s plenty more to get done! I’m excited to be part of a team that’s pragmatic, strategic, and rooted in data. #Adelante

People like Paul, experiencing homelessness in this heat, found refuge at the Mission. Paul shared that the hardest part of experiencing homelessness this summer is “the heat. Period." Learn 7 ways you can help your neighbors in need in this increasingly hotter weather. ? 1?? DONATE BOTTLED WATER We’ll have it in our building and also pass it out on the streets to keep people hydrated. 2?? MAKE A FINANCIAL DONATION Instead of handing out money to someone, consider donating to nonprofits who serve those experiencing homelessness. 3?? DONATE NONPERISHABLE FOOD Food is often in short supply at shelters during this time of year, so consider a donation of canned goods or other nonperishable food items. 4?? GIVE TOILETRY ITEMS Travel-sized toiletry items (alcohol-free!) and things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, soap, and lotion are always needed. 5?? EMPOWER PEOPLE TO GET OUT OF THE HEAT Extreme heat can be very dangerous, and a place to cool down is very important. Point them to Nashville Rescue Mission or other day services in the area.? 6?? VOLUNTEER Give the gift of your time. Volunteer to serve meals to your community. 7?? BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR If you see someone in need, check on them. Offer a bottle of water or other resources. Learn how to distinguish if someone is experiencing a heat stroke, and if it’s an emergency, call 911. Thank you for continuing to support the Mission through seasons of extreme cold and extreme heat. Our neighbors need our help! ??

Really insightful wellbeing session today at the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity #frontlinenetwork conference In a climate of higher demand, fewer funds and fewer resources it is imperative that we make worker wellbeing a priority We may not be able to change the landscape but there are certainly small actions and behaviours we can adopt to make a difference #controlthecontrollables
Great to see Kellie Armstrong MLA taking part in the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity Frontline Network #Strengthincommunity conference today in a session on wellbeing for frontline staff in the homelessness sector. Made a valuable point about the need for funding to be provided to fund provision for staff wellbeing in the homelessness sector due to the key role they have to play in supporting people experiencing homelessness
