Re-upping this Harvard Business Review article from January. Item No. 2 resonates: "AI will create, not diminish, workforce opportunity." Completely agree! AI actually opens new doors, enhances productivity and assists in managing tasks which otherwise are often a time-suck in terms of the "real" work that generates revenue. Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is leading the way, both in terms of utilization and understanding the many legal issues arising from AI's use. With: Lyle Gravatt, Kyle Snyder, James Forrest

Use of AI in all areas of work is in almost every point of this article and employee activism for use of AI is identified as a main driver for a faster adoption of the tools. I wonder if there is a need for policies around AI and the extent of acceptable use. Interesting read, I wonder if any of it resonates with small businesses or less tech progressive businesses?

An interesting read on trends shaping Work in 2025. It is clear that while AI promises "super powers" at work, it comes with risk of dehumanizing our experience. Let's not forget our humanity as we continue blending machines into our decision making and let's avoid relegating the "social" aspect of our jobs to the machine. Humans are social beings and we develop social skills by trial and error. Pushing this function to the machine will likely impact our social development journey. https://lnkd.in/gENtZDuk

I have often been hesitant to discuss AI and its impact - a mix of fear and fascination. In 2024, tools like ChatGPT have been invaluable, helping me refine content, brainstorm program ideas, and polish grammar in multiple languages. Yet, there’s still a sense of uncertainty: Could AI replace jobs, limit creativity, or disrupt critical thinking when relied on too much? This week, I read an HBR study on?“9 Trends That Will Shape Work in 2025 and Beyond.”?Several of these trends highlight AI’s transformative role in the workplace. Here are a few key points: 1 - Restructuring for AI Integration:?Organizations are redesigning structures to fully leverage AI by simplifying hierarchies and fostering cross-functional learning. 2 - Adopting Nudgetech for Collaboration:?AI-powered tools are personalizing communication and improving team cohesion. 3 - Fairness Through AI in Management:?AI-driven decisions in areas like performance reviews are perceived as more impartial, fostering fairness. 4 - Employee Activism Driving Responsible AI:?Workers are advocating for responsible, human-aligned AI strategies. However, the article also highlights risks. AI can erode human connections, create feelings of alienation, and blur the line between high performers and those heavily reliant on AI. Job displacement is a growing concern, particularly for roles dependent on repetitive tasks. Without proactive governance, ethical and social challenges may hinder progress. Despite these challenges, AI holds immense promise. Beyond reshaping workplaces, it’s fostering innovation across industries - from improving productivity to revolutionizing medicine with groundbreaking possibilities like curing cancer. AI should be embraced as a tool to create efficiency and progress while maintaining our core values and human connections. We hope governments, tech giants, and the leaders driving AI development act responsibly to mitigate risks and fully leverage its potential for the greater good. What are your thoughts on AI? Do you see more risks or opportunities in your world? By Beatriz Nicolau
