Too many employee/HR initiatives are driven by a need to remain competitive other than a want to be more human. ?? You should offer flexible working hours because we all need flexibility in our lives. ??You should offer remote working because we all need to work away from the office sometimes. ??You should offer mental health days because we all have moments when we can't cope. ??You should encourage salary reviews because we all need more money to keep up. ??You should offer more leave entitlement because we all need a bloody break. Not because it's a recruitment strategy, not because your competitors are doing it or because the 'market now demands it' It's coming from the wrong place. In doing it from the right place it becomes something that's in your business' DNA. A value you share, a vibe everyone feels. & if this is truly your only motivating factor, then let me reassure you. By developing a culture that's truly driven by human needs and not only business needs, I GUARANTEE you will attract and retain more talent. Because people will want to work with/for you.
