Sadness River I have seen some beautiful poetry in the last few days describing many aspects of the water - tears, rain, rivers, ocean, flow, flood. I personally have always loved the water, it has always lended powerful metaphors and analogies to my life and work. Today, it fully connects with sadness. Sadness that flows slowly and relentlessly through every little crack in the armor, eventually emulsifying whatever seemed to be left whole. Water doesn't rock the ground, doesn't blow the trees... it forces its might with persistent little drops, one by one disintegrating long standing forts. Our beautiful state weeps together as the floods take over its cities, fields, industries and roads. The river banks are gone, nothing holds it or flows through it. The water is stale, the ground is mud. For those who feel called to help the efforts of the many volunteers who are putting their own lives at risk, still saving people from the rooftops of their once upon a time homes, I am sharing two non profit organizations that accept foreign currency donations. One is very well know and distributes its donations to different fronts, and the second one was just created by a friend of mine, Mharia Borges, PCC - ICF Coach Executiva Global de Líderes e Empreendedores, to help rescue and treat the animals. 33,000 meals donation for the needy. CSR update: In the culmination ceremony of the third phase of the Pratistha campaign, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, MD & CEO of IOB, and Aseem Gupta, Director & Head of Bancassurance at Niva Bupa, handed over a token cheque to Sunanda Foundation which would sponsor over 33,000 meals. This would cover all 3-time meals for over 100 senior citizens residing in their old-age home in Mumbai for close to 4 months. The Pratishtha campaign reinforces the joint commitment of Niva Bupa and IOB towards community service. It echoes the shared commitment of both the partners towards social responsibility, aiming to inspire others to contribute to building a more inclusive and compassionate society. Through this partnership with Niva Bupa & Indian Overseas Bank aim to create a tangible, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations. The unfortunate reality of our society is that many elderlies are abandoned by their own family members and are left with no option but to take shelter in an old-age home. This abuse by their own family members followed by isolation pushes many senior citizens into depression. Sunanda Foundation saw the pressing need to give shelter to those elders who were destitute and abandoned by their own family. The NGO therefore started Radhika Old-Age Home for such elders in the year 2016. #Ramadan is a time when #muslims are reminded of their duty to help those in need and to show compassion towards their fellow human beings. Charity holds a special significance during Ramadan, as?it is believed that the rewards for good deeds are multiplied during this blessed month. Muslims are encouraged to engage in various forms of charity. There are many ways to practice charity during Ramadan, such as donating money to charitable organisations, volunteering at a local organisation, homeless shelter, or simply helping out a neighbor in need. Many mosques and Islamic centers also have programs in place to collect donations and distribute them to those in need. One important aspect of #charity during Ramadan is #zakat , which is a mandatory form of giving for all Muslims who meet certain criteria. Zakat is a specific amount of money or assets that are given to those in need, including the poor, the needy, and those who are in debt. Another form of charity during Ramadan is to simply offer kind words or a smile to someone in need. Overall, charity during Ramadan is an essential part of the Muslim faith and an important way to show gratitude and compassion towards others. Fellow Nigerians, Why it is easier for many of us to contribute (millions of Naira) to buy cars and houses for ex BBN housemates and social media personalities than to help the poor around us. Why can't we use the method to provide shelter, clothing, food, etc. for the poor? Ooh, okay I now understand, you'll say that taking care of the poor is the work of govt, it's not really our business. However, note that most of the charitable Foundations from the US and Europe who come here to do charity work are funded by individuals (and the private sector). They bring their hard earned money to help our needy while we use ours to make celebrities richer, well done all you contributors.

At The Goat Trust we have taken a mission to ensure a glass of milk for 90 days to malnourished girl children in poverty pockets of rural India. In fact, some children have never tested milk and are suffering from a high level of malnutrition and low BMI. One child sponsorship direct cost comes Rs 1000 for 90 days. I urge your support and networking to mobilize some individual donations to have both resources for pilots and awareness about this sordid situation as 1 out of every 3 children is facing these nutritional access problems. I know we can not totally change, but let's do something as children have no control or power to access and are not their fault. They may remain indebted for such social support and concern and help them to be better citizen as we are planning to organise camps with them once Trust is established and will sensitize their parents for continuity . It took me a lot of afterthought to dare to reach you for such donations but I thought such change can only be brought by support from larger set of people and let me get out of my personal ego to ask for donations for something which needs to change.
