The University of Auckland has lost one of its most talented young researchers in the chemical engineering field. Dr. Isuru A. Udugama has passed away unexpectedly a few days ago. Professor Ashvin Thambyah wrote an obituary that exactly summarizes how great a person Isuru was. Despite his young age, Isuru has made a significant impact at The University of Auckland (Brent Young, Saeid Baroutian, Ashvin Thambyah), DTU - Technical University of Denmark, The University of Waikato (Tim Walmsley, William Kelton) and the University of Tokyo (Hirokazu Sugiyama). My dear friend Isuru, we will miss you. It is difficult to grasp that you will no longer be around to cheer us up with your always positive attitude to life. Thanks for everything. It has been a pleasure and an honor to work together with you. https://lnkd.in/e6SvH4Fd

Oh my god, I cannot believe this news. Rest in peace.
What happened? How did he die?
It is almost beyond belief… I remember vividly how he used to drop into our office, always positive, offering motivating comments about our work when we did not feel quite right about it. He was so positive and energetic, so full of life and wisdom. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
