??♀?????My website has just undergone a significant update with the addition of my photography portfolio that I curated over the years. The decision to take on the project was a tough one, but I finally took the plunge. To achieve this, I meticulously duplicated my Quarto blog grid template into various photography categories and subcategories. I then embedded images with Markdown on each page from my Flickr account to allow for faster loading. Along the way, I used hard-coded alerts on different pages to notify visitors of pages under construction over the past few days. This journey down memory lane involved a considerable amount of trial and error. What makes it great for me is the ability to tailor how my work is showcased, breaking away from the constraints of social media platforms. I also like that I can look back on image metadata on Flickr. Yes, there is a bit more work involved to do what I did, but I still have no regrets in saying goodbye to my WordPress site years ago. I have a beautiful site that is the result of my hard work and isn't a pain to manage. Looking ahead, I am considering expanding the portfolio by incorporating a blog detailing my photographic process alongside the technical details. The technical aspects are my favorite part. ?? ?? I wanted to showcase a direct comparison between professional photography and amateur mobile phone shots. This was quite a straightforward property photoshoot for a short and mid-stay rental company. In these examples, we carefully copied the angles to make the comparison as fair as possible. ?? ?? “That” photos represent the professional images taken by me, while “this” photos are amateur snapshots taken with a mobile phone. The differences are subtle yet impactful—from lighting and clarity to depth and detail.
