While body positivity is a beneficial and relatively well-known concept, it can take time to develop and may not be fully attainable for everyone. Enter body neutrality. Body neutrality places an emphasis on the wonderful things that our bodies allow us to do, like hug a friend or listen to music. The thing that's really different about This Naked Mind, especially as opposed to traditional recovery or sobriety methods, is that we really value an individual's goals rather than sobriety. I don't personally associate with or call myself sober. What I say is, "You know I drink as much as I want whenever I want. I just haven't wanted to have a drink in almost seven years now." That's what's true for me. That's what's authentic for me. I don't like labels as a rule, personally, and I never would want to force them on anyone else. So, sobriety isn't the goal at This Naked Mind. The real goal is to change your emotions around alcohol and to create a relationship with it that works best for you. What was your original goal when it came to your relationship with alcohol? Has that changed with time? Are you ready to set goals based on how you want to feel? The Death gradual process , stages and conclusion . The one thing that we don't want to think about or prepare for . the peaceful journey towards death, like falling asleep for a final time. Our bodies slowly wind down, with less interest in food and energy. Sleep deepens, and medications switch to forms that don't require swallowing. Heartbeats weaken, skin cools, and breathing becomes shallow. There may be confusion or restlessness, but mostly a gentle fade into unconsciousness. The article acknowledges the mystery of what a dying person experiences, but assures us their breathing difficulties don't cause distress. The story ends with the body's natural rhythm slowing, pauses in breath appearing, and finally, a peaceful stop. The focus is on understanding and accepting this process, and on the comfort it can bring to those witnessing it. #death #clinicalresearch #signs #health #breathing #dead https://lnkd.in/eFNy65pt

Love this reel shared by Dr Shefali about "False self", which really ties in to my sentiment in my posts about individuals out there possessing Imposter Syndrome and Sexuality Identity challenges. They wear masks, creating "false self" facing the world. It is just so valid that there seems to be a great need for these "False self" to satisfy their inner crave for acceptance, being validated or being seen/listened to. These "False self" can start as early as 3 to 4 years old. I can relate with a recent watch of Thai Gay Bromance Love series "Cherry Magic" had a scene where the male lead "Karan" grew up to be a all rounder in school, at work, and even hid his own sexual orientation in fear. His mother never said "NO" to things he really wanted, but her actions of praising and support came only in those she saw value. Hence, he grew up with this "false self" noting how his mother will accept, support and love him when he did things that she saw value in. Slowly, he suppressed his wants and love as he knew it would not gain recognition or embracement from his mum. Can you imagine how the deep impact it can be even when there is no outright rejection? Internal validation is just difficult particularly when one is young, still trying to understand the world, still trying to know what he/she/they want. Once one grows up, internal validation is not easy as well, since there has been the assimilation to what has been seen by the external as being the "right" thing to do. Tough isn't it? But it is always good and never too late to start on your self-discovery path and bring out the "true you" to those you can trust to accept =). https://lnkd.in/g6BxQMmy
Dr. Shefali ??Conscious Parent on Instagram: "We start wearing masks early, becoming what others applaud—comedians, pleasers, athletes—to feel loved. ?? These masks hide our true selves, developed in childhood when we weren't celebrated for who we really are. As adults, we often keep up these facades, craving external validation. But beneath the masks, we are already enough. Let's shed these layer

It's Alcohol Awareness Week in the UK* My partner from the UK - Nadine Searle, Your Calmer Self Coach - shared our podcast on #alcohol use and our own growing awareness of choosing to be alcohol free. Sharing here -in this big space- where you might be wondering if you are over drinking, or even if you're an alcoholic (in my coaching work w/clients, this is a topic that comes up often wh we address w love and care). LI claims 1 billion people. > In 2019, the WHO reported 7% of the world's population (age 15+) had Alcohol Use Disorder. That was before Covid. And, we know AUD was already exceedingly underreported. Let's just use that # to extrapolate-if there are 1B people on LI, then 70 million might have AUD.... that would be in 2019 numbers.... and today? > You? What is your personal level of alcohol use? When/How/Why do you use it? DO you worry about your frequency or purpose for Use? DO you ever think about how your Use is impacting your fam members? DO you understand what alcohol use does to your body? HAVE you ever thought about being alcohol free? (contact me, I'll be happy to share my experience of this) WHY am I sharing this? Because my life/my family was inalterably changed by death from Alcohol Use Disorder (complete breakdown of the liver from alcohol use). Something I never imagined. Something that was secret/not allowed to be discussed. Something that I knew nothing about in real terms. What do I hope by posting this? That someone will see themselves (it's not something that someone else can do for you) and ask themselves, 'What if I go from drinking to drinking more? What if I go from drinking more to not being able to stop? What if I die from my choice to drink-not-think? What if every person in my life has to go on w/o me bc of my choice to drink-not-think, poisoning and breaking down my liver? Do I WANT that? Is there anything I can do to change my Use?' Susan, why are you posting here in this space? Me: Because you are among us, here, pretending to do your work while suffering Under Your Surface. Because this topic is more important than that meeting you're holding to discuss (anything) or even your 2024 G&O. Love your Self more. If this resonates with you, in curiosity, fear or desperation, please ask for Help. There is #noshame in asking for help. Truly, you are not alone. Do not let Shame win. You'll be amazed at how many others are in your boat. #swim #alcoholawareness with love, Susan #executives #csuite #alcoholusedisorder *Alcohol Awareness Week is managed and hosted by UK charity?Alcohol Change UK?and runs from?July 1 to July 7 2024. One of the key aims of this year's campaign is to get everyone talking about the ways in which alcohol harm affects people and how it ripples out to families, friends, communities and society as a whole

Sobriety offers you everything alcohol promises you. We often think a drink will give us confidence, make us fun, and help us connect with others. But in reality, sobriety delivers what alcohol only promises. Like walking onto a packed dance floor and dancing with true confidence—no crutch needed, just you, fully present and alive. That’s real freedom. It’s the courage to have deep, meaningful conversations without needing to “loosen up.” It’s waking up clear-headed, energized, and proud of your choices. It’s connecting with people because you’re fully there, not because a drink helped you fit in. What has sobriety given you that alcohol pretended it could? Drop your thoughts below and let’s celebrate the truth together.
