Had the opportunity to attend the Great River Human Resource Association of the Quad Cities Ignite Conference on Wednesday - reconnected with and met some wonderful HR Professionals. Kudos to the GRHRA team for a well run and well attended (over 200+ attendees) event! ?? ?? ?? One of the speakers, Kyle Roed, serenaded us with some guitar riffs and discussed 'Harmonizing HR' and the role of the HR Professional in creating and supporting an environment for positive employee engagement, organizational culture, and a productive workplace. ?? One thing Kyle said really stuck with me, especially in the Talent arena - "People Are Messy". Many times a beautiful mess, but messy nonetheless. In the Recruitment space, we try like hell to create a predictable outcome, but many times this proves futile, because of that 'messiness'. We try supporting people, developing, encouraging, and it might not work out or they let us down. My takeaway ?? - give up on perfect. Humans are humans; multifaceted and unpredictable. Focus on finding the right values that align with your organization's purpose and help support/develop the rest. As HR Professionals, it is our job (and a worthy endeavour) to make an impact focused on development and growth. It won't be perfect, but it will be worth it. ? Grateful for Our Global HR Townhall: We are Stronger Together ? Our HR Townhall @KARLSTORZ really left me energized and motivated. We had the opportunity to exchange ideas on the future direction and strategy of our HR work. It was great to virtually bring together so many colleagues from around the world to jointly set the course for our next steps. ?? Here are some highlights, I want to emphasize: ?? Our HR Strategy: We talked about updates on our HR strategy, showcasing how we’ll continue to build a strong, future-proof HR foundation to become Employer of Choice, creating a workplace where people feel valued, motivated, and empowered. ?? People Development: This is a personal passion of mine. We all know how fast the world is changing, and it’s critical that we invest in our employees' growth, helping them develop the future skills they need to succeed. It’s our responsibility to nurture and prepare our teams and our company for tomorrow. ?? Open Exchange Session & Speedfriending: I’m a firm believer that we achieve more when we work closely together, freely share ideas, and discuss openly. The sense of community within our HR team is our strength, and I’m excited to see how we can continue to grow and support each other. ?? Deep Dives: We also had the opportunity to dive deep into key HR topics in small groups, covering employee engagement, Coursera as a new way of learning to future collaboration within our HR Community. International HR Day, celebrated on May 20th each year, honors the contributions of Human Resources professionals globally. This day acknowledges their vital role in managing workforce dynamics, fostering positive workplace environments, and driving organizational success. One myth about HR is that they are just here to make Rangoli. So Yes it is true...but how?? The answer I found in one of the articles I read posted by Work Culture. Rangoli warm up the entrance of our homes & workplace. HR is similarly the welcoming gate for new entrants to an organization. ?The center of a rangoli is the core of the entire design. Similarly, HR is the founding stone of the entire organization structure. ?Each petal of a rangoli intersects with the other and meets at the center. Each department of an organization likewise is intertwined with the HR department.
