As I reflect on managing teams over the last 3 years - I’ve found that my 6 greatest accomplishments have been coaching 6 fantastic sales associates in achieving promotable roles. - Everyone values things differently. It’s your job as their manager to find how you can help them achieve what success looks like. It could range from higher compensation to recognition. - Personally, I hold growth as my North Star. Mainly allowing me to gain skills, education, and things that transcend other aspirations. - Last week, we had our semi annual Town Hall in CTX with Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits & Seeing 2 of my 6 greatest accomplishments Cole Connerat & Jacqueline Kukol WSET II creating impact as managers on their sides of the business made my world. Their openness to being trained & developed was their separator. It gives my work immense amount of purpose and gratitute. - Moments like these are affirmations on why I do what I do. Building a strong connection with your leadership, and colleagues is key, especially in sales. In my first week in the new job, one of my main tasks was to get to know everyone on the team, from my manager and colleagues to the account executive. I needed to figure out how they work, what their roles entail, how they’re assessed in their roles, and what they expect from me beyond just hitting my KPIs. Most importantly It was also about understanding who they are as a person. One of the best tips I got from one of my senior colleagues was about how crucial it is to be on the same wavelength and have a clear, easy way of communicating. They even shared a story showing what can go wrong when that doesn’t happen, and how it can mess up relationships and reputations. Working well with your team can make a huge difference, even when the competition is fierce. Hope you all have an awesome week ahead!
