It is important to understand unit load movement in transit. Reduce the 'after the fact 'UL accident recreation' with forms of pre-testing. Laboratory and or real world. This is a great functional way to see what you'll get, before you get a real failed unit load. With global shipping lanes, its essential to find and reduce these problems up front.
Did you know that unitized pallet loads of goods have their own lateral resonant frequency? Did you know that primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials and can change the load’s resonant frequency? If that resonant frequency aligns with the transport vehicle’s suspension and/or wheel natural frequency, you may be asking for trouble in transit! Identifying the load’s resonant frequency and associated amplitude can help in subsequently engineering optimized unit load designs - reducing the amount of possible shift and dynamic response. Lansmont’s TruMotion Load Stability Test System now operational at Virginia Tech’s Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design is being used to establish unit load design and transport performance validation best practices.
