In Texas, batteries have become essential to stabilizing the grid by providing the fast response and flexibility required to instantly respond to record-breaking electricity demand. By allowing batteries to jump in and do what they do best when needed most, Texas sets an example for how other states can address rising energy demand while keeping the lights on and costs low. As Eolian’s COO Stephanie Smith shared with NPR’s The Indicator from Planet Money: “If we're doing our jobs, nobody knows.” Learn about how these advancements are driving reliable, affordable power from Stephanie’s conversation with NPR on The Indicator from Planet Money here:?https://lnkd.in/gf_CGk95 #EnergyStorage #GridReliability #ERCOT #TexasEnergy #Innovation
I was thrilled to speak with? The Indicator from Planet Money about how?utility-scale energy storage?is?helping to keep the lights on and costs low for consumers?in my home state of Texas. ? Like other states across the country, Texas is experiencing great economic growth resulting in record-breaking electricity demand. To meet the growing need,?batteries?have?played a critical role in keep the?grid stable and ensuring Texans have a mix of reliable energy resources, especially in moments of peak demand.??As I?shared with? The Indicator:?“You don't want excitement on a grid, you don't want surprises, and batteries are amazing at doing all of those things and reacting within microseconds of whenever there?need is.” ? Energy views from the Chicken Coop One of the groups ?we follow is Doomberg (the green chicken on substack: (https://lnkd.in/ekzM4DbU). Doomberg is a group of ex-commodity industry executives, engineers and scientists that write very insightful articles on the energy and commodity markets. Doomberg is not free, but occasionally does interviews and podcasts that are accessible to the non-paying public. Doomberg is always worth listening to, and helps give you new insights and additional perspectives of the energy markets and the energy transition. While the podcasts tend to be fairly long in length (a hour or so), it is time worth spending. I found this most recent podcast quite thought provoking. I recommend you give it a try. https://lnkd.in/edQs6jiu #doomberg #energytransition #energytransitioncrisis #nuclearpower?
