In a remarkable act of compassion, Lowe's Companies, Inc.’s, in partnership with hundreds of volunteer builders, has donated and installed dozens of tiny homes, offering families a warm, safe space to call their own this holiday season. These homes have heating, kitchens, bathrooms, and beds, keeping families connected to their communities as they work towards rebuilding their permanent residences. The story behind this project is one of collaboration, heart, and relentless determination. It began with Julie Yenichek from Lowe’s proposing the idea of 100 tiny homes to Danny Kelly, co-owner of Kelly McArdle Construction. With a shared vision and the support of nearly 400 volunteers, they transformed a warehouse into a hub of hope, assembling homes that would change lives. The effort didn’t stop there. Lowe’s also partnered with Incredible Tiny Homes, led by Amanda Hayes and Randy Jones, to purchase additional homes. The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane #Helene is forecasted to make landfall in Florida today as a catastrophic Category 4 storm. Helene’s storm surge is predicted to be up to 20 feet along some parts of the coast. We know the devastation that awaits homes and property that lie in the path of a storm of this magnitude. Truist Foundation announces $500,000 grant to support Hurricane Helene relief, recovery efforts across Southeast Funds will be used to prepare, respond and restore in impacted communities CHARLOTTE, N.C.,?Sept. 26, 2024?/PRNewswire/ --?As Hurricane Helene travels toward the?Florida?panhandle,?Truist Foundation?today announced it will donate?$500,000?to support relief and recovery efforts in communities impacted by the storm. The funds will be distributed to the?American Red Cross?and?World Central Kitchen?for immediate relief efforts as well as Center for Disaster Philanthropy's?Atlantic Hurricane Season Fund?for long-term recovery efforts. I just recently returned from a short trip to Florida with my wife and her parents. We have a small home in Ormond Beach and I was interested in making sure there wasn’t any damage after Hurricane Helene. We’re thankful our home or property was not damaged, but my heart goes out to all those affected by Hurricane Helene. It’s almost beyond belief the level of destruction experienced by those in its path. We ended up cutting our trip short so we could get home before Hurricane Milton hit. The property did sustain some damage, including our fence along the property line, some loose siding, and water in the basement. While we are fortunate we did not experience more severe damage, I recognize that not everyone was so lucky.
