This past week, I took my nephews to ZooBoo for some trick-or-treating. Watching my 7-year-old nephew, Zac, in his adorable costume was a revelation. With a heart full of excitement, he ran up to strangers, introducing himself with, “Hi, I’m Zac! Want to be friends?” At that moment, I realized how much I had lost touch with that childlike spirit of connection and joy. Growing up, I learned to mask my enjoyment, thinking it was a sign of weakness. Yet, here was Zac—fearless, confident, and ready to embrace whatever came his way, even in the face of rejection.
