Wow, I’ve Really Come a Long Way! ???? As a girl who grew up in and out of juvenile hall, I was one of 12 who boldly stood up against Wackenhut Private Prisons for the abuses happening in their youth facilities. That fight, nearly two decades ago, could have easily sent me down a dark path, like so many others who were abused. Instead, I chose a different path—one of courage, resilience, and a deep commitment to making the world a better place. Today, I’m proud to introduce our pitch deck for the Haunted Texas Theme Park—a $1.39 billion project near Austin that blends history, sustainability, and cutting-edge AR/VR technology. This isn’t just another theme park; it’s a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of perseverance, and a platform for creating positive change. ???? Reflecting on this journey, I realize how easily I could have become the villain in my own story. But instead, I’ve chosen to be the hero. Every day, I fight to build something that will transform lives and uplift communities. My path has been filled with challenges—I’m tired, I’m weary, but there’s a strength in me that keeps my faith glowing. Perhaps it’s the ghost of Sara Marie Lowe, a young girl whose spirit continues to inspire me to keep going, to keep building, and to keep believing. ?? Believing in its potential, he advised his clients to invest in Coca-Cola shares, which were then trading at just $19 each. The villagers trusted Munroe's insight and invested in the stock. This decision shielded them from the worst impacts of the Great Depression and economic hardships that followed. Over the decades, the value of their investments soared, turning Quincy into a community with an unusually high number of millionaires. Enterprise building is an evolution of equitable compensation. As child welfare focuses more on lived experience we’re starting to catch up to the idea of paying people for their expertise. But we shouldn’t stop there. We often have a conversation about equitable compensation. If I attend a meeting on behalf of my organization (aka my expertise) then I’m getting paid for my time. So, everyone attending that meeting on behalf of their personal experiences (aka their expertise) needs to be paid as well. The next place we can go with this is what Homeboy Industries has been doing for decades. They’ve moved beyond paying people $50 an hour for their time. Instead their helping people start businesses, they’re investing in those businesses, and their helping people build wealth and influence. Equitable compensation is good but still tends to operate in a transactional context. Meaning the system/organization still holds power and sets the agenda. Enterprise building operates in a relational context. It’s about what people want to do with their lives and then invests in their agenda. I’m excited to see this story about Tepito Cooffee and the success they’re having. Tepito is changing the coffee industry while transforming people’s lives. That’s a great thing to invest in Thomas Vozzo.
