?? Ice Skating and Professional Life: The Power of Patience ?? Ice skating teaches us an important lesson that mirrors professional growth: slow and steady often wins the race. It’s tempting to rush ahead, trying to glide across the ice as quickly as possible, but true progress is found in maintaining control, balance, and precision. In the workplace, just like on the ice, trying to speed ahead without a solid foundation can lead to falls. It's the consistent, measured approach—building skills, learning from setbacks, and moving with purpose—that leads to long-term success. So, the next time you feel the urge to rush, remember: in both ice skating and your career, it’s the steady glide that gets you further than a wild sprint. #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerDevelopment #IceSkating #Patience #SlowAndSteady #Success

Ice skating is a great way to utilize public parks during the winter months, however there are some real hazards when it comes to this activity. Here are some tips that will help you to stay safe while enjoying the cold months! Test The Ice: The ice should be a thickness that is approved for skating, this will be around 8" but can vary depending on location. Learn How to Fall: Know how to protect your head and to keep arms and legs away from the blades. Don't Skate Alone: Always go with somebody else or have someone watching you and remain in their line of sight. For more information click the link https://ow.ly/Q8wU50Sr7ok

'Ice skating' I find ice skaters fascinating because they are so confident as they glide across the ice, performing daring manoeuvres and complex routines at high speed. All safe in the knowledge that the ice beneath them is solid and won't suddenly give way! But in a normal job, how often can you mimic the ice skater and demonstrate the same level of confidence? How solid and secure do you feel in your role that you have a good grip of what's going on around you? Is everything as it should be? Are you aware of the risks you currently hold, both singularly and cumulatively? What is being hidden from you? Are you on solid foundations? How can you be assured that you are? How thick is the ice beneath you and is it one small step away from subsiding beneath your feet? ?? Share if you found this helpful. For more insights, follow me Steve Strange

Why post on LinkedIn on a Saturday? Because I chose to do a challenge with my team to post on LinkedIn once a day every day for 30 days! Which means I already fumbled with missing yesterday’s post. But that’s ok! Because I get to share with you one of my favourite lessons from my favourite sport, Roller Derby. When folks start out with their roller derby career a lot of them come in with zero skating experience. There’s some people who come in with transferrable skills in ice skating or hockey, or perhaps roller blading, but a lot times it’s people like me who haven’t really skated much since the roller skating unit came through at the elementary PE class. And roller skating isn’t typically easy to pick up! You have wheels attached to your feet, you might land on your wrists, your tailbone or your head if you don’t know what you’re doing! That’s why the first lesson in roller derby is how to fall safely. The second lesson is how to stop safely. The third lesson? Get back up, and get back up as soon as you can. In a derby bout, the quicker you get up means more time to pass other players as a jammer, or get back to your teammates to help make way for your jammer to pass. A single round of a bout (a jam) is only a maximum of two minutes long, and could be cut short by the lead jammer. The time you take to get back up could be critical to the impact you have. So here I am, back in on the challenge even though I already missed a day. While it’s not the same as skating, I think it makes sense since it’s not something I’m used to doing. I definitely feel like I have 8 wheels strapped to my brain, but it will get easier the more I post, and it will get easier the more I jump back into it. Here’s a throwback photo from when I used to play!
