From mid-2025, the airline’s electric aircraft programme will take flight in Hamilton and Wellington, thanks to a pioneering partnership with BETA TECHNOLOGIES. The ALIA CX300 battery-electric aircraft will be tested in local conditions, pilots will be trained here at home, and this ground-breaking technology will be showcased to Kiwis nationwide. This milestone sets the stage for Air New Zealand’s first-ever battery-electric commercial cargo service between Wellington and Blenheim in 2026—a giant leap towards shedding fossil fuels and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Thrilled to see groundbreaking progress in the Green Aviation sector! V?RIDION's recent €14 million funding milestone is a huge step forward in making zero-emission regional flights a reality. With aviation demands projected to nearly double in the next two decades, the aviation sector must continue to advance strategies to hit targets for producing and using sustainable aviation fuel. Last month, V?RIDION was also the first General Aviation company to complete its pre-application contract with the EASA.
