Your Excellency. Members, distinguished guests are very good morning to you all. We're delighted to be with you today as we commence commence the first session of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Review and Reform. I extend my sincere gratitude to our South African host here in Cape Town. The city with a rich history and the deep connection to the diamond industry. As we reflect on the past year, 2024 was this defining period for the Kimberly Process, a year of delivery and meaningful mindset of milestones. Throughout the 10 years of the UA KB Chairmanship, we had the honour of visiting 27 KV Member States. These visits provided me with the opportunity to witness first hand the successes and challenges faced by diamond producing nations. Regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. We saw, we listened, and we learned. Each engagement reaffirmed my belief in the K piece of critical role in fostering responsible and transparent diamond trade practices. One of our most significant achievements was the establishment of the Kimberly Process Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana. This milestone marks the institutional strengthening of our organization, enhancing our continuity, efficiency and operational effectiveness for years to come. We successfully passed 8 administrative decisions, including the reinstatement of the Central African Republic after 11 years of sanctions and the introduction of a Co Vice chairmanship to ensure leadership continuity. The 2024 intercessional meeting in Dubai was through the historic. This was the first ever panel of evidence and amplifying the voices of diamond producing communities at the highest level. We will focus on hiring additional staff, ensuring that administrative functions are robust and transitioning the maintenance of the KP website under the Secretaries direct oversight. Further, furthermore, we will make sure that the sustainable financial framework for the Secretariat is established, reinforcing its role as the guardian of the KPI's institutional memory. Another key responsibility for 2025 will be ensuring smooth leadership succession into 2026 and beyond. We should not allow leadership uncertainty to become the recurring issue. We must work together to establish a predictable and stable leadership structure that guarantees continuity and reinforces the credibility of the KP in spite of perceived challenges and geopolitics. Your Excellencies, esteemed colleagues, the Kimberley Process is built upon collaboration, shared responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to conflict free diamond trade. As we embark on this new year, let us seize the momentum from the year of delivery and continue to evolve to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, while remaining true to our mandate. Together, we can advance best practices, champion innovation, and ensure that the KP remains an effective force for the global diamond industry. With that, I thank you.
